Vadodara to Diu Trip
Praveen2428 on 30/10/2017 16:28
This was our second trip to Diu from Vadodara since 2013. Four years back , we self drived & followed vadodara-bhavnagar-mahuva-Rajula-una-diu. Road between rajula- una was very bad and took almost more than 12 hours. Lot of bumps, & single lane road passing many rural areas.
So , this time decided , different route ie... Vadodara-sindhrot-borsad-tarapur-vataman-bagodara-rajkot-jetpur-junagad-keshod-somnath-kodinar-diu.We four of us , one family, started Vadodara on our SUV at 7 am , followed this route & reached radhika beach resort at 5.30 pm. Suggest this route , as safe, less travel time, most of it is four lane & very good roads. Only few kms...in parts ..road with bumps with patches in between somnath to diu.. otherwise good.
Tips are..myth that vataman tarapur road in bad condition..is actually wrong..its far better good road except few points wherein flyovers are being in construction, but quite good road with less traffic. Smooth road till bagodara. Thereafter from bagodara towards Rajkot somnath is national highway 70% is 4 lane ...
Another tip is...take bypass road to bypass junagad , than keshod & than kodinar too...very important , otherwise once you enter by mistake through city..you will loose your travel time by @1.5 hours.
Another tip is..try to take simple refreshments on dhabas which is less crowded...this will help you to move fast ..break after 150 kms for 20 min..is good enough for your family and your four wheeler as well. Do not forget to check/ visual inspection of tyres /abnormality on your vehicle during these halts.
Another tip...take bit extended distance at nagoa beach... as you can enjoy with your family away from noise & crowd.
Total traveling distance Vadodara to diu is 568 kms.. @ 11 hrs..mine is duster , average speed maintained 80 to 100 kmph..average was 60 kmph, droved with my wife & two kids on board..not exceeding 100 kmph...
Stayed 3nights at radhika beach resort, classic cottage pool faced..good location right at beach with clean swimming pool. Food is bit costly, but no doubt , Good taste, good ambience , its allowed for only families. Housekeeping, hygiene was good, cooperative staff, breakfast buffet was really good.
After breakfast we self drived to diu roads for Sightseeing , through nagoa beach & air port road , take right towards fudam village..you will be right at beach road..where we first visited gangeshwar temple, INS kukhri..jalandhar beach...naida caves... Church...diu museum....fort.. dinosaur park...nagoa beach etc..
You may take snaps of scenic beaches...roads..hoka trees.... evening no doubt at nagoa beach..lot of water sports..
We have tried dinner at many other places ..like Hoka resort...Krishna beach resort...yes Radhika too..if you are looking for simple food , less spicy & not highly priced. Krishna seems better...if you are looking for variety..with taste & hot..go for Radhika
On our return , we had darshan at somnath temple, attended 12 noon arti.. beautiful..and finally halted at Hotel Krishna park at gondal - Rajkot highway..good resort with swimming pool..tasty food..not highly priced..buffet breakfast included...we followed the same reverse route. Next day morning started from this resort at rajkot highway for Vadodara..
We enjoyed this trip..later kids were further excited & enjoyed stay at hotel krishna park on return tooooo...☺
Surprisingly Good.

Our visit to Diu was not pre-planned at all. Just gave a call from Somnath to the property asking whether any room was available and they said they had all categories of room available and we would have a chance to have a look at them once we reach there and chose ourselves.
The property from the photographs gave me an impression of being a little too much on the ethnic side - but I was completely surprised to find delightfully modern.
The check-in was quick. They also offered to show us the available rooms. Since we were three members including our 9yr old son, we chose the suit with separate living room with its own television and cable connection and a bedroom with a huge ensuit bathing and dressing place The room was extremely beautifully done and very spacious. It also offered an exclusive porch like sitting area outside the door. It was like having your own 1BH appartment with a porch in front of swimming pool.
One more thing, I think they do not allow stags to stay there so it is completely suitable for family. Diu has a naughty reputation of being the waterhole for Gujarat - for it being close to Gujarat but not in Gujarat and hence no alcohol ban. This usually attracts many stags just to wet their throat [mostly though, they end up being completely drunk]. This creates a somewhat unpleasant atmosphere there which I witnessed first hand. So, the no stags policy of Radhika makes it the preferred destination for family travelers.
The property sits bang accross the Nagoa beach - the most popular place in Diu. The beach itself offers water sports rides and is amply dotted with waterholes and restaurants. The property also neighbors other resorts like Kostamar, Krishna Beach Resort [not to be confused with Krishna Park Resort away from beach], Richi Rich etc. But Radhika is the best option there.
The landscapes of the resort are done with love and maintained with care. The whole place is lit up in wonderful colors even on odd days. That shows how much the management loves their property - always a sign of what to expect as a visitor. The photographs speak for themselves.
The food is wonderful. Very tasty and offers wide variety. The restaurant is also decorated beautifully in sync with the whole theme.
The staff is excellent. Very helpful and very professional. On asking for guidance for a day tour, the desk staff informed us intently what are the places we should be going to and what route we should take and how much time we should keep for each place as they highly recommended us to return by the sunset time as thats when the Nagoa Beach is at its most beautiful. They also gave us a illustrated map exclusively published by them for the benefit of their guests.
The resort also offers abundant parking place. The common areas of gardens and swimming pool I would say are incomparable to other properties [from what I saw in photographs on tripadvisor as well as personal experience of Sugati Beach Resort].
In the end, I would love to recommend this property for all family travelers. Kudos to the staff and management for a wonderful experience.

Very nice restaurant with nice seafood. Good service. Even vegetarian food was tasty. It's near to sea beach Nagua. During Diwali it was very nicely decorated with lights. Food was not very spicy and in proper taste. Ketan Patel. Ahmedabad

We stayed at Radhika Beach Resort during Dussera vacations in 2017 (September 2017). Here's our impression of the place:
1. Location - Superb location. Bang across the road from Nagoa beach. Nagoa beach would be probably the best beach in Diu and this resort is very conveniently located
2. Room - Nicely done room with a HUGE washroom. Our kids loved the bathtub. The TV set could had been bigger but can't complain as we did not spend to much time in the room. The balcony/sitting area is also very nice, overlooking the sea.
3. Amenities - It has a nice pool and overall the resort is very beautifully built.
4. Food - We only had breakfast as we wanted to try other place for dinner. The breakfast was a bit underwhelming. A resort of this quality should have much superior spread for buffet breakfast. Food was tasty but would have preferred larger spread.
5. Price - It was value for money, although we did check out some other place very closeby, that was quite cheaper. But overall, we did not feel cheated.
6. Staff - Nice, friendly staff. Although one gentleman, in his enthusiasm, did send us to Ghoghla beach claiming it to be the best in the entire Diu (which turned out to be a long but lonely beach, frequented by drunkards)...
Overall, we liked the place and wouldn't hesitate to go back again, if we ever want to visit this tiny little beach town.
Awesome place

Stayed with family and had a wonderful stay. The beach is just opposite to resort.
The resort is well maintained with lots of greenery around. Pool was clean too.
The rooms were medium sized and had all the required amenities.
The breakfast spread had various options and was good.
We had meals in restaurant too and same was simply delicious.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would highly recommend this place.
