This is not a formula hotel belonging to a faceless international or national oversized group. It's simple, basic, cheap and does the job well. You will see a lot more of everyday India life in the raw here in the Paltan Bazaar and you might even get some questioning looks from those who play it safe.
The rooms are not luxurious and the photos on their website are a true representation but they are comfortable, clean and fit for purpose.
What was outstanding was their restaurant. We arrived late in the evening but it stays open until 10.15pm. We we attended to extremely well and the quality of the food was remarkable. We were - 7 of us - not that hungry and pretty tired having travelled for not far off 24 hours, so we only had a wide selection of starters to share. Really, really good food and breakfast was no disappointment either.
It was, perhaps, a brave choice and not representative of where we stayed thereafter, but it was good and I would recommend it - but only to those who don't mind potential surprises.

This hotel is close to the Guwahati railway station and bus stand. We stayed here for just one night. The place is well maintained and the rooms are neat and tidy. Incase you are on a 1-2days trip to Guwahati then you can definitely prefer this.
Their buffet breakfast shouldn't be missed.

My husband and I have stayed at Rains Inn 3 times and will keep coming back whenever we stay in Guwahati. The rooms are clean and comfortable, Wi-Fi is free and fast and the breakfast buffet is delicious. The location is very convenient and staff are friendly and helpful.

I stayed for a night from 23rd june to 24th june. The bed sheets could be cleaner. Their in house restaurant's food is wholesome and good. Complimentary breakfast is commendable. Staffs were cordial and helpfull. I feel the room tariffs were a bit high for the standard.

We met friends here and shared this hotel at their recommendation.
There were no negatives. They did a good job of taking care of us. They were what a hotel should be. Courteous, efficient, good.
There are many hotels in this Paltan Bazar area. It is not The One and Only Hotel that everyone on the street can point out to you, which is good.
