What People are saying

Cheap but rough

Zoesnakehips on 16/11/2017 17:56

Noisy guests, rude and abrasive check in and check out, probably the worst breakfast I’ve ever had - was surprised they weren’t embarrassed to serve it with brown dried ‘fresh’ fruit and tiny portions, room was nice, but hotel is shabby. Same price for the Executive a block away which is a better hotel.

Abnormally short beds, bad price for what you gef

Lyliass on 12/11/2017 17:54

I’m 5’4” (165cm) and the bed was barely longer than me. This obviously did not work for my boyfriend who is 6’. A hotel should at least have a comfortable bed, and having your feet stick over is ridiculous. I also did not get the queen room I booked, and there was no bath tub, only a shower. Makes for a very poor couples trip.

Downtown Vancouver

We were on the 6th floor - efficient lift (elevator) - no problems in waiting for the lift. On a couple of occasions was a good opportunity to chat to folk.
Parking is very handy but you have to pay for it and then pay taxes on top - unexpected for British travellers.
Room lovely also clean. We had twin double? beds. Our windows were on a hotel room courtyard which may have protected us from street noise. Whatever the reason, the room was quiet.
One of the beds had a more restricted view of the TV. However, there was a self programming safe and a fridge which you could stock with your own choice of beverage. There is ice available.
The hotel does not provide food. However, there is a bar next door - shared toilets - which does food.
You are amidst downtown Vancouver and a myriad of different food choices are within a 10 minute walk. We enjoyed Joe's Diner for brunch and Sweet Mandarin for an evening meal - both very tasty and very close. We also ate elsewhere which was less satisfactory.
I would definitely recommend the hotel - not high end but good at what it does.

Unpleasant surprise

Pros:
- Comfortable bed.

Cons for the room that I stayed at:
- Bathroom window has a big crack / hole
- Bathroom heater never work: can't feel any heat radiating from it.
- Why use sheer curtain to cover the giant bathroom window?
- Bathroom door knob is super flimsy, using twist knob method to lock the door.
- The gap between the AC/Heater unit is not sealed, allowing you to hear everything that is going on outside.
- Area is very loud and won't die down until 3:30am (ppl screaming, club music booming, cars honking, etc) and starts again at 6am (garbage trucks, beeping sound of trucks backing out, etc).
- There's a tiny parking (pay parking) on the side where they recommend you to give them your car keys so they can move it to an undisclosed location if the parking spot is full.
- Coffee maker is super gross, but then I guess this one is kinda expected.

A most enjoyable return visit

I have stayed at this hotel many times and I have always been impressed by the high
level of service. The rooms are well maintained and the management is friendly and attentive.
The hotel is a short distance from the Canada Line with convenient service to the airport.
It is possible to walk to the Robson Street central area in ten minutes. There are numerous
bus routes available on Granville Street close to the hotel. For film lovers the nearby
Vancity and Cinematheque theaters are well worth a visit.
