Warm, personal service throughout a memorable island experience

Right from the start of the booking process, we received wonderful support with detailed directions on the smoothest way to get there from Athens from Marilena.
Prior to our arrival, they took much trouble to help us arrange for a driver & guide on a half-day tour of Aegina which took in all of our very specific requests - no mean feat, coming at the end of the season.
Our room was impeccably maintained and offered a splendid view of the temple of Apollo and the sea. Breakfasts were fresh and tasty. As fellow reviewers have mentioned, the lush, serene garden is a dream.
Our host Dagmar was incredibly warm and attentive, super-efficient and meticulous in her care, even calling by after our tour to enquire if all went well (absolutely). Nicolas was equally kind and helpful. We will always appreciate his suggestion to dine at the sailing club with its splendid view of the harbour on our last night - a fabulous sunset experience to wrap up an unforgettable stay on Aegina.
Very nice guest house

We stayed here 4 nights. This is a small, well-maintained, well-run property with a particularly nice garden where most guests eat their breakfasts (also of a very reasonable standard).
There is no pool but the hotel is a few minutes walk away from a safe-looking bathing area near the port. For the best beach on the island catch the bus to Aegina Marina, about 20 minutes travelling time, which has a nice bay (2 sunbeds plus parasol 12 Euros). Aegina Town is a more interesting place to stay and the Hotel Rastoni is recommended by us.
Great guest house

We just came back from a two night stay at the Hotel Rastoni and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are lovely, and we had a balcony with a great view of the sea; amazing sunset-watching each evening! There is a spectacular garden, with pomegranate and citrus trees, flowers, fountains, etc, where we ate breakfast and sat in the early evening. Dagmar and Nicholas are very helpful hosts, with great recommendations for outings and restaurants. They really helped make our stay special. As one review noted, the breakfasts are simple, but we found them quite tasty (and, with all the amazing restaurants on the island, you will want to save your appetite for later in the day!). I've stayed in many places all around the world. This is one I definitely want to visit again!
Acceptable But Nothing Special

We recently spent 4 nites at Rastoni. The hotel is well located in a quiet residential area that is walkable to restaurants, shopping and the beach. It is expertly managed by Dagmar who is an engaging and welcoming hostess. On the positive side, our top-floor room had a commanding view of the Ionian Sea and Kolona Column, as well as the gorgeous grounds of the property. It's a very restful setting but on the inside, our room was spartan with absolutely no Greek touches. It seemed more like a rustic country cabin than a boutique inn. The bed was a monk's cot, complete with thin foam, ill-fitting sheets and unforgiving pillows. Cheap straw mats at bedside were curled and fraying, so we shoved them under the bed to avoid slipping. The closet was full of mismatched hangars, from wire to wooden to plastic, obviously collected from dry cleaners or perhaps left by previous guests. The bathroom was small and had an unmistakable sewer smell that permeated the entire room. O-live amenities were a nice touch.
Breakfast was somewhat disappointing. With the exception of Greek yoghurt and honey, there were no local products. No cheese pies, no spinach pies, no cream-filled pastries. Not even any pistachios for which Aegina is famous! Packaged cookies, pound cake and biscotti were available every morning, as well as hard boiled eggs, salami, cheese, olives and tomatoes. No fresh juices, only packaged OJ served at room temperature. We were never offered a hot cooked breakfast, even though I knew from reading here that it could be possible.
Bottom line, if you book Rastoni expecting a luxury experience, you'll be disappointed. Set your sights on 2+ star and you'll be fine.
Very charming and quiet place

The hotel is in a very quiet spot but very close to the center of Aegina city. The room was tidy and clean and the bed was great. The hotel has a beautiful garden with trees and flowers where you can relax any time. Breakfast was good and tasty.
