Pleasant stay
Alison Hon 14/09/2017 16:35This is a pleasant place to stay. As they describe themselves as a b&b we were surprised to find that breakfast was an additional charge. With this additional cost we paid almost the same price as the George and Dragon just up the road which was a much more luxurious place to stay. For the cost I would expect more in the room such as a teapot, real milk(not plastic pots of uht milk), press coffee, nice shampoos and soaps etc. For value for money we have to rate it a three, however the hostess was lovely making it a nice stop.
Perfect cosy retreat!
rupes89on 19/06/2017 21:32We stayed for just one night at the end of May and absolutely loved it. We stayed in the garden cabin and it was the perfect one night retreat. Our four legged friend Kai was more than welcome and he loved meeting the ducks in the garden - (I'm not so sure they were that keen on him) Our hostess Margaret couldn't have been more helpful and our chocolates left in the room were great for evening tea with the log burner on. Oh and the breakfast, the best we have had in a long time! All locally sourced and made fresh to order by Margaret. I cannot recommend this place enough. Great value for money, cosy & homely accommodation. Having travelled 400 miles to get there I don't think we will be visiting again soon unfortunately but if we are ever up in the north again we will be sure to drop in! Thanks again! 🦆🐕
Lovely welcoming b&b
Cathy Gon 17/06/2017 23:00Great bed and breakfast. We were only staying one night, arriving late on a Friday night! Margaret texted us, asking how our journey was going and for an estimate of arrival time. It was going to be after 10pm, so Margaret advised us of details of what to do on arrival as she didn't live-in, asked what time we would like breakfast and wished us a good night!
We arrived, found everything as expected (we were staying in rooms 3 & 4 I think - it was a double with connecting doors to bunk bed bedroom!), had a cup of tea and went to bed!
The following morning (after a good night's sleep!) we met the lovely Margaret at breakfast. She was very welcoming and prepared us a delicious cooked breakfast.
The bedrooms were not large, but perfectly adequate, and it was nice to stay in what had been a loved family home.
Would definitely recommend and would stay here again!
Pricey but great location
Dineviewon 25/09/2016 17:11At £100 for the night (inc breakfast) this was a pricey sleepover, especially compared to others in the area. Good sized bed, though, great water pressure in the shower but hideously rusty shower appliances - sadly everything's in need of a bit of an upgrade and at this price, made me flinch. However, Claire is lovely and I can forgive her pretty much everything as she was so warm and welcoming. A smile and friendly attitude goes a long way even at that price.
1 Night Stay
Genesys00on 06/09/2016 08:14I stayed here on a Saturday night after spending the day in Penrith and Ulswater area. Perfect location if you want to stay on the edge of the lake district. I had room 2 in the house, the bed was large and comfy the room was spacious and the bathroom was of sufficient size. Downsides were the headboard frame (noisy/squeaky), cream carpets (not ideal when have a dog and been walking all day) and dirty bathroom (squashed flies on ceiling). All small things but at £90 per night (Inc. £5 for dog) not including breakfast then they are worth mentioning. Will stay somewhere cheaper with breakfast included next time. If the Rebels Hide was £75/80 Inc breakfast like I normally pay in the lakes then would have scored 4 - maybe.
