After a bad experiance in Sevilla whe went to this hotel recommended by a friend. It was absolutely great. Very nice staff, there was the mother and 2 daughters. One of them spoke good englisch, the room was very nice, also the bathroom. There is a nice terras, you can order coffee or something else, they had homemade cake and they serve a great breakfast.(not include, but very reasoneble price) .Overall it is a very friendly and family ambiance on the oppisite of the beach. Close to nice Beachbars. Canos de Meca is a fantastic little town, the beaches in this part of Andalucia are Fantastic. We are already planning to go there again next year and stay a week extra.
Would definitely return

Lovely staff, great breakfast, great location across the street from the beach, and parking is available. We loved our stay here and can't wait to return. Great spot to stay, for a day trip to Cadiz, or explore up and down the coast.
Good, quiet hotel

The hotel was very quiet when we arrived - all locked up in fact, however, one quick phonecall and in under 5 minutes someone was there to open up. We were the only people staying there for the duration of our stay.
Lola who runs the hotel could not have been more helpful with advice about the local area, places to eat and so on and speaks very good English, so if, like us you have limited Spanish, this really helps. The hotel itself is clean and friendly with reasonable sized rooms for the price.
The on site parking is up a rutted lane and through a locked gate so you need to check in before you can park on site, however there is no issue with parking outside while you get this sorted,
The beach is very close, as is the nature reserve. Los Canos was very quiet while we were there and many of the places which woukld be open in season were closed up - that said we wanted to get off the beaten track so this gave us no problem.
nice hotel with walking distance to the beach, no breakfast included

we stayed in canos de meca for some days and really enjoyed it. its a little bit of a hippy style location with some nice beach. its little bit windy and stormy sea, but we liked it. the first row of the beach is full with villas, so most of the hotels are in the second row, including hostal fortuna. the downside of hostal fortuna is therefore that you have to walk a few minutes to come to the beach, also you dont have a direct view from the hostal to the beach. only a view rooms from the terrace have some smaller view. the advantage of the hostal are the nice people, the nice and clean rooms for a fair price
I'd give it 3 1/2 stars

So this a very basic hotel; rooms are small, but adequate. However, how much time will you be spending in your room? There was a TV, but I didn't use it. But the place was fairly clean, and reception was friendly.
If you are looking for a cheap place, but not a hostel, then this will do just fine.
The hotel is just across from the beach - you just cross the street, walk down a path and some steps, and you are right there.
Some rooms have a sea view as well.
The hotel does have its own private, and gated, secure parking lot.
