Our room was dirty, so was the bathroom. I would highly recommend to pack some slippers if you plan to stay here. Also bring some ear plugs, it's a noisy place.
The beds were clean.
The elevator was very slow, shaky, and felt kind of unsafe to use. I always had to wait several minutes for the elevator to arrive at my floor. Only 1 of 2 elevators were operating, sometimes both elevators were out of service and I had to use the stairway to get up to the 8th floor and back down.
The pricing is probably ok for US american standards but compared to other major cities all over the world, you get way less for your money here.
The only real good thing about this hotel is its location.

I've chosen to stay here on a few occasions due to the great price and location. After my last visit, I won't be giving another chance. First I had to have my room moved due to the bathroom smelling like sewerage. Every visit, the elevator goes out. The building is older and they are doing renovations but after coming down 9 floors of steps with luggage and shopping bags, I'll go elsewhere. He staff is great though. Credit where credit is due.

I have stayed here with my husband on many occasions over the last 10 years and this place is a great budget place to stay in downtown Chicago just steps away from the Magnificent Mile. You may want to bring your own towels and pillow if you can, and if you can afford to stay somewhere fancier, well, good for you. Here, there is hot water, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean and the elevators are fast.

Toilet was falling apart, walls outside the room were falling apart, All three ice machines were broken! Call the front desk to get ice (I just had knee surgery) She said I would have to talk to a supervisor... said ok them hung up on me. Called back she said I could go to 7-11 buy ice and get reimbursed. Just had knee surgery! Duh?!

You get what you pay for, this was a cheap one night stay. It's definitely got a vintage feel, which I LOVED...but it needs a fresh coat of paint & is in dire need of cleaning. There was absolutely no hot water, like it was being pumped straight out of Lake Michigan. The toilet was cracked & the plug in the sink was stuck, as in its full of my toothpaste water. The heat is poor...you're either hot or cold & it's very loud. Oh, and bring your own pillow...I think the ones provided were Fred Flintstone's, as in they are thin & hard as rocks. The location is great, though.
