Good points:
Rooms were big and clean.
Staff were ok
Beds were very comfy
Not so good points:
Breakfast was a little disorganised, although food was good.
Decor of the whole place was awful (or just not my cup of tea).
Each room felt rushed and unfinished.
Really did not like our room, it felt cold and dark. None of the furnishings matched and the ceiling was awful. Hated the ‘exposed ceiling’ when I laid down to sleep all I could see was grubby grey concrete and a pipe sticking out.
Glad I was only here for one night, don’t know how it gets its 4 stars?

278veronicaton 17/11/2017 15:57hotel staff and extremely friendly, providing great advice on how to travel safely and enjoyable around for an enjoyable experience. The food was fresh and traditional for a unique experience. Hotel is located within a walking distance or the tour buses and in a safe area of town. will definitely recommend using their tour guide service as the local knowledge added to the great experience.

However, it all went horribly wrong upon checking out. When checking out we waited 20 minutes for them to bring us our luggage. We kept on asking where it was and were told brusquely ‘it’s coming, it’s coming’. Eventually they admitted there was no staff member to bring us our luggage, so we had to go up to the 11th floor to collect it ourselves. Upon arriving there the place was deserted, with a corridor of locked rooms and no staff in sight. When taking the lift back down to reception, there was a power cut en route. The lift got stuck between floors. After 5-10 minutes of no one responding to any of our distress calls from within the lift, we had to climb out of it between floors. This meant literally crawling through a gap between the lift floor and the ceiling of the nearest floor. I was really scared.
When we told reception what happened they didn’t care.
If power cuts are common in Johannesburg why were they so badly prepared? This whole palaver meant we nearly missed our international flight, and the main thing that annoyed me was that none of the staff cared at all that we’d literally had to climb out of their lift mid-journey.
