Smell of animals, though we saw no pets. No running water at all in one sink, despite paying extra for en suite. No water from hot tap at all in the other en suite. Gas filled additional heaters supplied in both rooms, necessary, but thick with dust. Holes in Lino on bedroom floors. Dead flies on table cloths in breakfast room. Had to hunt cupboards and drawers for dining apparatus. Had to repeatedly ask for milk, bread, orange juice... throughout breakfast sitting. When reported tap issues initially told night manager was a handyman; when we returned from dining elsewhere handover had not taken place. When requested refund was told Duty Manger would deal with it next day. When asked same member of staff next day was told Duty Manager had changed shift at last minute - feeling fobbed off. Poor light in breakfast room. Warm yoghurts. Ugh!
Don't Bother booking, look elsewhere

So being a local lad who now lives away I knew the location of this hotel but was unprepared for the conditions I would be staying in. As always the people of my home city are the friendliest and welcoming you could meet, they were the highlight of this place and as was the wi-fi which was great for downloading movies for my son and a working tv with remote!!
I booked through another website and when I left a review they didn't even publish it, hmmm I wonder why?
I assume the staff who work here don't own the place and therefore have no blame upon themselves for the condition and lack of refurbishment that this hotel requires, I guess the for sale sign outside is a clear indication the owner has had enough!!
Lets not write an essay, our room had no heating, replaced by a plug in heater, the toilet leaked when flushed, there was one working tap in the bathroom sink, the shower was mouldy, the paint was dirty and flaking, the carpets in the communal areas were sticky and dirty too, i wished I had looked at Trip advisor before I booked but I trusted my sisters recommendation.
Breakfast, brioche in a basket along with Weetabix and madeline cakes, help yourself to toast and tea, coffee and fruit, the dining room was empty of paying guests, dirty table cloths, lack of any cooked breakfast so I took off to the local pub offering all you can eat for £6:00.
As a previous poster wrote it is unsuitable for refugees, the sooner it is bulldozed the better, if you want a bed for the night after a heavy session with your mates on a stag then great as that is all you will get really, truck driver stop overnight fine too but the Premier inn is available at the same price and strongly reccomend booking that instead.
Overall, the staff were fantastic and are probably out of a job once this place is sold, they take a pride in their work and like to chat but lets be honest this place is a dive and unless people are told thi then they will be disappointed when they arrive.
Run down in a smelly area

Lets try to be positive here... the staff who checked us in/out were exceedingly friendly, there is free wifi and there is free parking in their own secure car park but that is where the positives end. I don't very often write reviews but I feel i have a duty to the general public; a compunction to issue you with a warning: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT STAY HERE. The Cargill plant opposite stinks beyond belief, a smell only matched by the toilet in our room... just being in the vicinity of the bathroom with the door open smelt so horrific I was convinced I would immediately contract Legionnaire's disease! The view from the room consisted of a recycling/rubbish sorting plant; beautiful. The TV in our room didn't have a remote which meant it was nothing more than a useless ornament. The floor was in such a bad state of repair it looked like Edward Scissorhands & Freddie Kruger had played bowls on it before we arrived and the bar in the lobby which was advertised is permanently closed as they no longer hold a licence! The purpose of our trip to Liverpool was a night at Anfield; even the 10 pints we consumed could not detract from the horror of this place! I am all for a cheap hotel when visiting somewhere, particularly when not spending any time in the room but this is beyond anything i have ever experienced; the Maritime makes Eastern European Hostels seem like the Ritz... and we had to pay £57 for the 'privilege'... i wish i had of donated the money to charity and slept in the car! We cannot comment on the breakfast as the thought of eating here nearly induced the vomitus which the smell of the toilet had stirred up! There is absolutely no reason why anyone should stay here, ever. In fact, if i ever found myself homeless and was offered a night here i would try my luck with a local soup kitchen. Please heed my advice.... DO NOT STAY HERE!
