I did not actually stay at this hotel but was here everyday for 5 days as my family stayed here and we hosted a wedding.
Rooms are amazing, spacious and modernly decorated. The grounds are just as lovely with a nice pool area.
The staff for the most part were lovely but not very accommodating.
The restaurant is not very child friendly (although the chef is a great guy) and they do not allow outside food to be eaten in there seating areas which I find strange as most hotels in Catania encourage you to try their local restaurants.
This is definitely a location that is more enjoyed if you have a car but there is supermarket 10 minutes walk from the site.
The snacks/drinks on sale there are very expensive, I paid 3 euros for a small bottle of coke and the supermarket 10 minutes walk away sold it for one euro (if you want more money spent at your venue look at your pricing and menu options)
The Wedding
The wedding was amazing and they made the scenery like something out of a movie GORGEOUS!!
The food was nicely presented and tasted lovely but not enough child friendly options. They also have a place that holds events next door which happened to be hosting a party the same night as the wedding, in turn that party ruined the speeches as they decided to put the music on full blast during this point of the wedding (the staff did not address the noise problem from the other party which was disappointing).
overall this is a lovely place that with some fine tuning can easily become a 5 star resort.

Lovely relaxing hotel within easy distance of Syraceuse and the baroque towns. Super pool area great food and an absolutely AMAZING breakfast.
The Plemmirio area is a little disappointing being very run down and lots of tipped rubbish spoiling what should be idyllic. The waters looked fantastic for snorkling but access was difficult

We were going to Syracusa for a professional meeting, and discovered while traveling in Sicily how very hot it was. Too hot to stay without air-conditioning. We canceled another reservation due to the lack of a/c, and booked the Kalaonda. What a lovely surprise to find this quiet, serene retreat. Beautifully restored old vineyard. Very clean, Zen atmosphere. Highly recommend if one is in this area.

We have stayed here four times now and love it. Great pool area with beautiful paved surroundings set in a courtyard of converted buildings. The staff are very friendly and helpful and really make you feel at home. The on site restaurant produces wonderful typically Sicilian food.
We have also stayed in Ortygia but found it better to be based here and travel in when we want to.

We have visited Kalaonda every year since it opened. We have recommended friends to stay here as well. Everyone has loved it. The staff are charming, friendly and helpful, the food is excellent, the pool is lovely and immaculately clean and it provides a perfect rural, yet convenient location from which to enjoy Ortigia, Siracusa and the beautiful sights and bathing waters of this historic region. Good value too! Get here quick before everyone finds out!
