unfortunately a little disappointing
KS&HCon 13/07/2013 13:16Its not in Certaldo, its in Marcialla, a small village about 10km from Certaldo. It shouldn’t be an issue if you’re coming by car, and you are touring by car and have done a little research to find it, but if arriving by taxi and planning taxi tours it is a remote and expensive starting point. And unfortunately its all a little disappointing. Not that it hasn’t got stunning far reaching views and the rooms are large, nicely furnished in the appropriate way with very high ceilings and window shutters to keep the sun out and remain cool. And is has a very nice quietly located pool. But the rest of what you’d expect is missing. No restaurant at all apart from breakfast. And that means no lunchtime snacks on the veranda with the view. And no drinks service by the pool. Nothing. Breakfast was basic and disappointing. A stunning hotel in Tuscany in a lovely old villa building gives you a breakfast choice of coffee from a selection of buttons on a vending machine. And a vending machine for the choice of two juices. No fresh cheeses or meats. Cheese was those triangles of pre packed stuff, and pre packed covered toast and cake as well. And that’s the disappointment. It has all the potential to be something really special and whilst we had a comfortable stay, because it misses the mark on serving up what you expect, it just overall leaves a felling of a lost opportunity.
Tuscan Delight
TripValueon 26/04/2013 10:23Our family was looking for a Tuscan experience. This beautifully refurbished castle exceeded our expectations. Centrally located in the Chianti region. The friendly staff, beautiful grounds and cleanliness deserves a 5 star rating. We would highly recommend it!
Beautiful location and excellent service
Trevloon 30/08/2012 15:02It was fun finding the villa but head for the central village square and it is just off that. Staying in Marcialla was one of the highlights of our trip and this was due to mostly to the setting of this hotel and the helpfulness of Marta at reception. The room was large with a good bathroom and very effective aircon, breakfast was the usual continental type which you can eat outside overlooking the Chianti countryside. I would recommend getting some meats and cheeses from the local village shop and and bottle of Villa Marcialla ;-)
Fantastic hotel, beautiful location, amazing staff
Sarah Gon 23/08/2012 21:55I had my wedding at the villa and I can't say enough good things about Tavolese. I planned a wedding from very far away and that comes with a lot of stress but when I got there the villa, the scenery and the location were everything I'd hoped they would be and more. And the staff, Fernando was helpful every step of the way and I couldn't have done it without him. My guests had a great time and I am so grateful.
A dream setting
Patricia Won 25/05/2012 16:43We stayed at Villa Tavolese because of a family wedding this May. What a fabulous setting! One opens the windows of the room and you think you are part of a movie! The location was ideal for touring Tuscany and visiting Florence. Small restaurant down the road in the village for dinners and good continental breakfast on site.
