Came For A Wedding, Nearly Stayed For the Lego Convention

We stayed two nights, at a group rate, for a friend's wedding. The rooms were nice, though an extra heavy blanket would be nice for the bed, and very well kept. Housekeeping checked on us while we passed in the hall to see if there was anything they could do for us, thank you Maryia, and kindly spoke with us about our stay.
Joe, at reception, helped me easily adjust my reservation days before arrival. Our check in receptionist allowed us to pay cash, with an extra $50 deposit so we didn't have to worry about excess card holding charges. Our receptionist at check out was great about accepting my husband's ID, as I'd misplaced my wallet, to confirm we were indeed checking out and received our remaining deposit.
While I went to Sam and Harry's with friends for breakfast Friday Morning, my husband ordered room service and was pleased with the selection, timing (almost 11am as requested) and mode of packaging (sealed container in a bag). My girlfriend's and I, however, had the buffet. Our waitress went above and beyond with the kitchen to make it really special since it was my friend's wedding day. We really appreciated the selection and their commitment to getting us started off right.
We also were thrilled to see how kind every member of staff we met through out our stay was, including staff helping us navigate elevators with our arms full.
We only wish we had time and could have stayed for the Lego Convention, everyone looked like they were having such fun.
Pleasantly surprised

There will be plenty of people, mostly for convention meetings. However, the hotel itself is designed to be calm and airy with their water features and soaring ceiling. All the staff members from valet to front desk to club lounge and housekeeping were outstanding. Bring your car and explore the neighboring areas for better varieties in food selection. Plenty of free parking. The room is clean and updated. About 30 minutes from O'Hare by surface streets and 90 minutes from Chicago via I-290 during regular traffic
Excellent Hotel

I had a great stay here. Big hotel, even a convention center. I was on business. New premises; very clean; great service; good breakfast area. Fresh food. Hard bed, which is the way I like it. Quiet. Only real suggestion is that the linens and towels were a little rough. Could be better quality. Otherwise, the place was great.

Modern and Fresh...Everything We Needed!

This is the second time we've stayed at this Renaissance property in the last few months. Once again it was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. However, this time it was even better than the last time we stayed here!
The reason our stay was even better this time is because the hotel just completed a RECENT RENOVATION of all of the rooms so everything in our room felt very fresh. There was a new love seat size couch, new wall coverings, new paint and decorations, new window treatments, and I believe new carpet. The room was clean, fresh and cozy. My only complaint was the full size beds which were difficult to fit two medium size adults in each. We LOVED the tv in the bathroom mirror, and the AVEDA bath products! I requested extra bath towels ahead of our arrival from the front desk but they were not in our room upon arrival. Housekeeping corrected this the next day after we left a note in the bathroom. We stayed in room 528 and it faced the front of the hotel just above the main entrance.
The CONVENTION CENTER is attached and is located down an attractive hall. It took less than 5 minutes to get from the main hotel lobby to the convention center.
There are a few DINING options at the hotel. There is a full service restaurant. We did not eat there and I'm not sure of its hours. There is a quick service counter available. We got our Starbucks coffee here each morning and I had the egg white muffin sandwich which was very good. There are healthy breakfast/lunch options available here as well as muffins, pastries and bagels. Finally there is a full service bar that offers appetizers. The food here was good too.
The HOTEL LOBBY is modern and offers many different seating/conversation areas. There's always a comfortable place to sit by yourself or with a group of friends. The fireplace is beautiful! The lobby is open to the floors above. It seems like the sound from the lobby would carry up into your room but it doesn't. Our room was always quiet once our door closed.
The OUTSIDE of the hotel and the grounds are very pretty. There is a walkway around ponds and fountains, and several seating areas. There are also outdoor patios but unfortunately these were not open at the time of our stay.
PARKING is free. The parking lot is very large and it is a long walk to the main entrance. There is a side door near the elevators that makes the walk to/from your car a little more convenient. Even so, it is still a long walk to your parked car.
The SURROUNDING AREA offers many different eating options and shopping at the nearby Woodfield Mall area. Unfortunately these areas are not within walking distance because of the freeway. However, the hotel offers a free shuttle service and there is a free trolley that services the hotel. We used both and they were convenient. Keep in my that the trolley makes many stops along a route while the shuttle can drop you at a specified destination.
We've stayed at this Renaissance hotel twice and enjoyed this property each time. We will definitely stay here the next time we visit the Chicago area, and I will recommend it to friends!
