Contact before booking

We were put in the room on the lower ground floor, next to the toilets. Booking this hotel I have assumed all rooms have balcony or at least a decent size window...I was wrong. We felt like in a janitor's closet.
Reception is NOT 24h so if you arrive late you have to try contacting 2 numbers on the door. Mission impossible.
Thankfully our air conditioner broke and we caught the manager a minute before he was about to leave. We showed the room, how hot it was inside (it was way hotter than outside). He made a few calls and arranged a better hotel not far (name San Giuan).
We were amazed how different the other hotel was... wasted 1 day stressed. Very bad experience...
The only good thing was managers effort to make us happy. Thank you for that. Please update your information on all rooms available to avoid this happening to other guests!
Everything was perfect!

We travelled through Sardinia, we started in Cagliari, than were in Villasimius and the last stop was Alghero. Everywhere we had beautiful accommodations, we stayed at Poetto beach in Cagliari, we stayed in the centre of Villasimius, we slept very close to Simius beach in Villasimius, but in this residence we felt the best. Really! We stayed 2 nights in Alghero old city, but there was too many people. The location of Residence Europa was much more better. We could reach the old city in 20 minutes by foot, we could reach Maria Pia beach in 10 minutes by foot. We had a comfortable room with kitchen, we prepared something to eat every evening and enjoyed it with bottle of wine in our balcony. Excelent staff! Very helpful and friendly. They prepared for us our rooms 5 hours earlier and we got welcome drinks. So thank you very much, we recommend you to others.
Great staff.

Purpose built hotel less than 5 minutes from the beach. 25 minute walk along sea front to the old town going past bars, cafes, shops and a small fun fair. Balcony with some rooms but not quite with sea views ! Ours was an apartment with basic kitchenette. Breakfast looked good. Bar reasonably priced. Staff were excellent and very helpful.
Perfect location, friendly staff

We stayed here 1 week, and we were very happy with our decision, to stay in this hotel. The old town is 20 min far on foot, and Maria Pia beach is close to the hotel. The dinners were very good, the only thing what was not so perfect: too late starts the breakfast for us. The hotel staff is very friendly, I can advice this hotel for anybody, who wants a good stay for low price. :-) If I will travel to Alghero I will stay here.
We do not recommend this hotel

We do not recommend that others stay here. Not a good hotel for those interested in the historical old town. We were told this is “minutes from the old walled city of Alghero”. Our walk took about 45 minutes and we were exhausted. Lucky we took the 10 Euro taxi (which Francesco kindly arranged) here from the city’s bus station as a walk with our luggage would have been very difficult. Everything here cost extra—extra charge for a cup of coffee in the morning; extra charge (15 Euros/day!) for cleaning during our 3 day stay, etc On the positive side, we were allowed to check in a few hours early and a bit late, the bed was very comfortable, we had two small free bottles of water and the WiFi worked (although painfully slow). We wish we would have stayed somewhere else in Alghero.
