Marriott Brand Lost It's Touch (Standard Questionable)

My experience at the Residence Inn was bitter sweet. I lived there for 7 weeks September 2017 - November 2017. I get to see the real deal at the once prestigious Marriott Brand. The hotel is a pet friendly resort. I will relate the positive and the negative:
Positive Experience: Great location, close to the Port Canaveral, lots of restaurant, close to the highways. I have stayed in their studio style and then move to a suite so I have experience the different category. The lay-out of the rooms are great, furniture not modern but they function ok. Kitchenette included with a regular refrigerator and counter top 2 burner stove. The front desk staff is professional, friendly, courteous and always willing to go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Yasmin was amazing always a healthy genuine smile to uplift your day! Kendal, Joyce, John makes me feel at home.
Dining staff the best and most hard working around. I must say the breakfast is very appetizing, and lots of variety to choose from. The dining area is the cleanest part of the hotel. The ladies are very friendly, they greet you in the mornings and each morning is the same greeting to say we are happy you are here. Sheila and the rest of the staff in the dining room are great team players. I actually miss that breakfast area in mornings, I am in my second hotel since the Residence Inn and none can compare to the residence Inn friendly dining room staff and food.
Speaking of food, the Residence Inn host 3 evenings per week where they serve finger food along with red & white wine, beers & soda to it's residence. Thumbs-up on that Residence Inn.
Negative: Lazy housekeepers...lazy housekeepers....lazy housekeepers. I usually let them come into my room once a week, so you expect them to do a good job for my once a week cleaning. I would come into the room and get really frustrated because all they do is make the bed. The floor would be dirty and the floor in the kitchen which is wooden floor would be sticky.
I had to call and borrow the vacuum cleaner to vacuum my room. When I checked into the Residence Inn cleaning my room was not in my check-in status. I got really mad one evening after I allow them to come in and clean my room, when I came home I had to open the windows to air out the room. It was so stink that's when I had to stop them from cleaning my room. The bathroom I think they only use the towels and wipe out the water, they don't clean the mirror or even dust.
The carpets in the hallway and elevator stinks, the laundry room is disgusting. Come on is this a part of the Marriott Brand? Where are the Marriott inspectors to ensure they are living up to the Brand Name.
Suggestions: If you choose to be a pet friendly hotel, please consider those people who may have allergies to animals. Keep all your pet family on one building and those without pet on another building. Also, you should be doing additional shampooing and cleaning of your property to ensure a fresh smell. It's called maintenance, be consistence. Ensure your supervisors check the rooms, or maybe they don't have any. The management staff need to be a little more engaging, for all that time I stay there I have no idea who is the GM. In my last week there I was told Matt who was always very helpful and friendly is the assistant GM.
The hotel is badly in need of renovation, if you are not going to do that please tear out the carpet. Overall, cleanliness at a hotel is very important to me after that experience I would not consciously return to that hotel a hotel in which I have to clean my own room.
So disappointed in you Residence Inn!! My worst ever Marriott Brand!!!
Over night stay for wedding

Clean, welcoming and hospitable, We needed an early check in for ironing before a wedding and they were more than happy to help. After the wedding we enjoyed cocktails on the back patio with a fire pit until 11pm. After that, you were welcome to stay but on your own. Easy walk to Burger King in the front of hotel or 24hr Racetrak convenience store for ANYTHING you may need. We enjoyed the extra space in the room and the breakfast fare. Needed a tray for carrying breakfast to the people back in the room and the staff was happy to provide. Parking was available for $6. Overall a great stay and would happily stay again if in the area.
Sleep, Park & Cruise Deal

We have stayed at this hotel twice for their park & cruise deal, most recently October 2017. We had a 1 bedroom king suite. The room was comfortable and suited our needs for rest perfectly. Check in was quick and efficient and the front desk staff was friendly with each interaction. The only complaint we had was the cruise transportation. It was unorganized and we ended up taking a Lyft instead of having to schlep with the people waiting for 2 ships. There is only 1 round of transportation and the hotel has nothing to do with the organization or the charges (which I was led to believe was included in our hotel fees, as it had been the last time we stayed). There were many groups of 10-15 people and they received priority for van space. My family of 3 was pretty much completely ignored.
Again the hotel is fine, our car was safe for the week, and we would stay here again. I just wish the transport to the cruise terminal was better organized.
Very Good Hotel Close to Cruise Port

We stayed at Residence Inn Cape Canaveral Cocoa Beach in a one bedroom, two bed suite. The room had plenty of space and included a kitchen, dining table and desk. The included breakfast was good. The hotel was close to the port and conveniently located to restaurants and shopping. It's also close to Park Port Canaveral where we parked our vehicles.
Excellent pre-cruise stop

Very clean, comfortable suite with plenty of space. Friendly staff. Breakfast was included and better than expected. We had no problem with the cruise shuttle, but be aware that you have to book it in advance. A tip is suggested to the driver.
I'll stay here over any of the other area hotels from now on. A+
