What People are saying

Nice but........

hippo74_28on 12/11/2017 23:47

We only stayed one night but since 3 of us we had a 2 bed 2 bath room which was laid out great. It also has a full kitchen which I’m sure could be very useful if you were staying a few days. Additionally, staff was very nice and welcoming. However, that is where the pros end. The cleanliness of the room was not up to par. We found clothes tags around the night stands in one of the bedrooms. Also there was a spoon in the garbage disposal and food left in it as well from previous guest. While we enjoyed our stay I would probably not return since room was not cleaned well at all.

Unwelcome guests

Stayed 1 night a few weeks ago, I like the former Residence Inn properties that have exterior entrances to the rooms and multiple buildings. My second floor room overlooked the pool and I was very impressed, knowing I'd enjoy my stay. Then I noticed the zillions of tiny fruit flies swarming out of the kitchen drain. I covered the opening with a dish cloth and set a heavy plate on top. Then I wondered why the housekeeper hadn't noticed this, but my mistake is that I didn't ask for a new room.

I continued seeing the tiny flies all over the suite and decided to pour an inch of my wine in two glasses, setting one in the kitchen and one on the bathroom vanity. I came back to check and was horrified to see the numbers of flies the wine had attracted. They were also clinging to the kitchen cabinets, the pillowcases and towels, the bathroom mirror, they even stuck to the bar soap after I used it, so the scent must have attracted them.

Later, I went to the lobby to buy something for dinner, since I was tired and didn't want to leave and go to a restaurant, and told the front desk clerk about the flies. She asked why I didn't say anything sooner, since the maintenance crew was on duty until 7:30pm, but it was past that time. I admitted that I wish I had, even with the hassle of moving to a different room. I added a $5 container of soup to my account, then the clerk told me she would make sure I was given a discount off my room rate.

As the evening progressed, the flies seemed to be stunned by the wine and not flying around anymore, since I had plugged the 3 drains. I had a good night's sleep and a very nice breakfast. I noticed the cigarette butts all over the sidewalk next to the container meant for their disposal, some were even smashed on the stairway, how sad. At check-out, I was asked how my stay was and again mentioned the fruit flies, and I was told by the clerk that she would check on the discount and e-mail me the adjusted bill. The bill I received at check-out did not include the $5 container of soup, so is that the "discount" I was given or did the clerk charge the wrong room?

I am a Sonesta TravelPass member and can't tell by logging into my account if I was even given extra points instead of a reduction on my bill. It's been almost 3 weeks and I'm mostly bothered because I didn't ask for an adjustment, but was offered a discount by two employees and it never happened. I would definitely return to stay here if the room had no fruit flies.

Very Good Stay!

Our first night here, it was branded Residence Inn, by Marriott. It changed to Sonesta mid stay. This is a nice hotel, with a good breakfast and some nights have a free snack bar. Residence had beer and wine on some nights. Not sure if Sonesta will continue that?? Our rooms were all two bedroom suites, with full kitchen and living area. They were clean and well equipped. I would definitely stay there again. It was a very good value also, especially sharing the cost with the person in the other bedroom. The two bedrooms provided privacy and the common living area was great for hanging out, watching TV. The TV was a good size/quality. Thumbs up on this place! It is close to the Interstate, so there is some truck noise, but not bad, and my room faced the Interstate.

Nice but..........

This is a great place to stay if you need space and a full kitchen but please do not go here if you have small children and or anyone with special needs. I checked in late last Friday after driving 10 plus hours from Houston TX, with my 2 year old and my son who is autistic. We were looking froward to getting out the car and in our room. When I checked in the lady did inform me that there was a noise policy she stated please no loud parties or music i never thought she meant children so I went ahead and checked in knowing I was not going to have a party we are tired so this should not be a problem because they kick you out without a refund. So we went to our room which is on the second floor and unpacked the car, it was not even 20 minutes and the front desk was calling saying they received a complaint about noise. I informed the lady well we just walked in, she stated well can you get your child and put her in the bed. I immediately informed her that I wanted to checkout the next day my stay was for 2 days but seeing how this stay was going I knew it would not work. Please read the other reviews, they have an issue with thin walls and flooring. I want to make this clear this place is nice its just not for families with young children. They will throw you out and take your money. They did allow me to checkout without penalty so I do appreciate that but due to the threat of being kicked out I had to take my children back in the car and sit at IHOP so they can stretch their legs until they were tired.Next night went to another hotel which I will be reviewing and had no issues and I was on the 3rd floor.

A Helpful oasis for Irma Evacuees

Jeffrey Mon 28/09/2017 15:40

After a grueling 17 hour trip from Naples to get away from Hurricane Irma, we were greeted by the polite and helpful staff at the Residence Inn. Although we were initially scheduled to stay for one night and then shift to other Marriott properties, the staff worked diligently to see if we could stay put. We ended up staying for four nights. We enjoyed the breakfasts, news updates and the camaraderie of other evacuees and their pets.
I hope that corporate headquarters is notified of the caring and southern hospitality of this fine staff. Thank you Residence Inn for making stressful situation a little less stressful. Should we ever return to Montgomery, this property is on the top of our hotel list.
