Nice hotel, old style, fair price, near the city center

The hotel is in an old building, near the city center, 10 minutes by car away from the airport.
There is a metro station right outside the entrance.
Do not expect luxury rooms, but considering the price, you get what you pay.
There is free wifi fast enough in all areas of the hotel.
Breakfast is typical, but the coffee if pretty good.
No mini bar in the rooms, neither safe.
Great Value and Position

The Residencia Lar do Areeiro is a comfortable and very clean budget hotel a metro ride away from the airport or central Lisbon. You can take the metro from the airport using the ticket machines. Look for the English logo down the bottom on the left hand side. A one way journey is 1.40 euros. One change at Almeda for the green line station of Areeiro. If you turn right when you get out of the ticket gate, the hotel is at the top of the steps. Very easy.
The hotel has an elevator and while not 5 Star, it is clean and has everything you need. There is a discount supermarket about 5 minutes away if you don’t want to pay 6 euros each for breakfast.
Truly this hotel should be removed!

For a beautiful city like Lisbon a disgusting way on our final two days after our two week stay in Portugal
Being Portuguese born I can tell u they DON'T CARE
Our original reservation showed twin beds after calling TripAdvisor clearly was changed to Double bed
We arrived after 8 pm given a room with twin beds and was ever worst this was a room that SHOULD not have been used at all! The smell of urine! Yes urine on the carpets and in the bathroom was sicking!
We proceed to go to the front desk where we told there is no guarantee of rooms it double bed?? And no other room available they could switch us in the morning and to just close the door and open the window
We were given another room the following day
Cleaning staff are attentive but definitely a well know fact that the room we where given the first night smells
How sad with tourism being one of the bread and butter of this beautiful city places like this can place such an impression on other places
In regards to location yes the metro is right outside
We booked as it was closest to the airport however it's not on a straight line and one needs to transfer so with luggage and wanting to get to the airport at 6 am Sunday which metro is not opened
A taxi ride 12 €
So my review do not stay from staff truly don't care or shall I say who ever owes this Hotel does care as with all this reviews you think changes would have taken place to this beautiful structure/hotel
THIS HOTEL SHOULD HAS NO RATING AT ALL PERIOD!!!!!!! WORST!!!

We missed our flight back to New York, made a quick reservation thru Amoma to this hotel just because its closer to the airport. As we arrived the hotel, the manager has already a nasty temper, not even try to greet us instead kept talking on the phone, and simply ignored us. Finally, after finished his phone he asked for my name, and he said there is something wrong with the reservation, other words the hotel refused our reservation because they had no more rooms available. Although, we had our booking and confirmation on hand, he just simply don't care. Instead of helping what's going on, because they are dealing with Amoma, he said he doesn't care what happened to us and nastily told us to leave and look for other hotels. I really can't believe some hotel worker could be a ---- nasty to customers. We went out and looking around asking people for hotel around the area, but couldn't find one. So we came back to the hotel and nicely asking him if he can give a written proof that the mistake was not done by the hotel, because Amoma already charged us. Again, this a-- manager ignored us and won't deal with our problem.
My whole 8 days trip to Portugal was ruin by this guy, we've been to other hotel/guesthouse in Lisbon and Porto, and they all respect their customers.
NOPE, this is not the place for tourist, unless you really really really desperate and good luck!!!
I am still emotional thinking about this guy and this hotel, and arrrrggg I didn't get a chance to ask his name.
Good location, not so good hotel

We stayed for 4 nights. When we arrived the receptionist ignored us, then told us she couldn't 'find' our rooms because the computer was down. She then tried to make a phone call. Then she seemed to forget us and decided to sweep the floor! Eventually, we went off to the very good bar next to the hotel for dinner. She said the rooms would be ready when we returned, but when we did she still didn't seem confident that the keys would work (maybe she could have tried them out while we were away!) We were given two ground floor rooms. In both rooms only one light worked. There was no air conditioning, just a fan and the safes did not work. We later discovered that our shower leaked into the bedroom! The rooms were very noisy. The next day we reported these problems to reception. The gentleman told us that a repairman would come to fix the problems. We asked to change rooms. Eventually the senior person agreed straight away that we could change and we were given rooms on the second floor. These were much better, with air con, though the bathrooms were very small and the soap dispenser in our shower was hanging by one screw! There were also constant problems with the key cards not working.
The breakfast in the hotel was extremely basic and seemed to run out frequently.
Having said all of that, the location was good, right next to the metro and the journey into the centre of Lisbon is very easy. It is also about 10 minutes from the airport.
As I mentioned, the bar next to the hotel is also good, nice food and wine!
