What People are saying

Our honeymoon

PrestonLambeth on 05/11/2017 15:21

Our honeymoon, and sadly they missed the little yet critical things... (and some big things also)

Some parts during our stay were amazing like the carnivor Sunday buffet with shrimp, steak, champagne, etc. The restaurant that starts with an M... cant remember the name (michimi?).... incredible noodle wrapped shrimp... watch out for the water, it costed us 290 mex. Pesos for 2 bottles... that's crazy btw, because the water was actually more expensive than the shrimp... not sure how that works out, but it is what it is.

When we entered we had no idea how to call room service, our room didnt even come with a room service menu, we found out about the menu that we never got from a kitchen manager at one of the pool bars.. and had to request that someone bring us the missing yet famous blue binder.

No one took the time to let is know how the the Cisco telephone system worked... which extensions were which, how to call room service (even after having the menu) and if the system actually worked was yet another story. Lots of button clicks yet zero results.

After room service arrived, they never once called or came back to ask if we wanted them to take our plates and dinner ware, so I hope you like having dirty dishes in your room smelling up the place till the next day when the cleaners come in.

You have to pay for more than two bottles of water daily, and in this climate, water is essential and some places here in the resort, it costs more than wine.

The air conditioning was not on or not working on the 9th floor, so when walking the long hallways, we felt like we were going to die.

No one showed us the club 89 or whatever it was called, and honestly, we didn't feel special or "taken care of". We had to figure out the rules of the game by talking to local kitchen staff, or random staff walking the long empty halls, and we felt disorientation all around. (If you don't speak Spanish, good luck, thankfully my wife is fluent)

The breakfast area was ok, staff was not all that nice, nor smiling, it kind of felt like slave labor to be honest. Maybe we are being picky because it was our honeymoon, and a week that we were never supposed to forget, but frankly, there were lots of parts i wish we could forget.

Everything basically shuts down at 8pm. And for us, that seems kind of odd, we may want to take a refreshing swim at 9 or 10pm. But not here.

All in all, we enjoyed most of our honeymoon, but expected a bit more with the price of the king suite, the stay was cool, yet disappointing in all of the important little areas for us.

Recommendation: stay at the princess imperial, or find somewhere else to stay, the resorte imperial needs a lot work.

Cold water, terrible room and service.

I had a business meeting in Acapulco so I decided to have a little weekend vacation. I normally reserve thru American Express and they recommend this place as the second less expensive option. Banyan Tree (witch I adore) was $700/night so this place was a good option for $200/night. The first room I got had a carpet full of stains and sticky phone handle, the bathroom was tiny small and had a leak definitely not a 200/night room. I called Amex and they helped me upgrade to a "Jr Suite" for the same price since I am a good client to them. The so called Jr Suite had no hooks to hang the towels so there was no option but to put them on the floor after use. There was no additional lock inside the room so the only lock was the key, card key that is. I pay no attention originally but that became relevant later. I took a shower my first night after visiting the pool and there was no hot water, it didn't bother me since it was just a rinse off, the next morning however, I did notice it and after 20 min of playing with the handles I decided to man up and take a cold shower. I reported it to the front desk twice, once on my way to have breakfast then again after coming back since I tried it again just to make sure they were not listening as I assume right. The next morning I had to take a 6AM flight so I decided to shower that night and to my "not really" surprise there was no hot water. It was around 8 PM and I was in no mood to fight these people so I took the plunge and shower again in cold water. After the uncomfortable shower I decided to call the front desk and give them a piece of my mind. I told them, is too late to fix this problem since I have an early flight but you should be ashamed etc, etc.... I was almost asleep around 10PM when I felt a presence in the room, I jumped off my bed to grab something to defend myself when I notice there was a grown man in my room. When the guy saw my reaction he said "I am the maintenance guy, sorry". If I would have been a woman? how would that scene would have looked like? It is awful that somebody can just get into your room like that I just felt disgusted. This place lacks a minimum level of standard, you can tell they build it without any planning, the doors are cut in weird shapes, the desk was inclined towards the back, there was only one trash can in the whole place, I mean this place is bad. DO NOT stay in this Hotel. This is perhaps T H E worst place I have ever stayed in my life and I do travel for work 50% of the year.

Fantastic Hotel with great service

Joel C on 23/10/2017 17:44

One of the best hotels. The hotel is a big one with a lot of rooms. We were very happy to find english speaking staff(every time we needed someone). The staff is very courteous and friendly. The hotel has fantastic view from all the sides. We had booked three rooms in the hotel. Two were facing the pool and one was facing the hills. Both the views were good. However, preferred view will be the pool view(You also get to see Acapulco Airport Runway from this side). The Hotel has about 5/6 pools and a Jacuzzi too. There is a wave pool which is great to experience the waves in the serenity of your own pool. We really enjoyed it. The pool area also has a sand pit with soft white sand. Feels good to walk in the sand staying right at your hotel.

Hotel does not have a beach attached neither can you walk to the beach. However, they have an arrangement with their other hotel Princess Mundo Imperial and you can visit that for free. They also have a shuttle service for this(We did not use this though as we had our own cars to travel). By the way, Valet parking is very efficient and they have great security. When you enter the hotel, they will check if you have a booking before letting you inside(i quiet liked it from the security standpoint).

Our stay did not include the breakfast and we had to pay for that. The adult breakfast cost was MXN 350 and Child was MXN 150. It was a large spread with very tasty food. The hotel also has a kids activity area where kids of all ages are welcome. Only challenge is if your kid is below 5 years. They will then request you to pay for the nanny as the kid might need some assistance. One of the kid in our group was about 4yrs 7 months and since there were other kids from our family, the attendant allowed her with out the nanny charges. I appreciate this attitude.

There is a small shopping center near the lobby of the hotel and it sells some souvenirs and beach clothing stuff. There is also a Starbucks right there where you can enjoy your coffee(I tried using my starbucks membership card to pay but was denied and told that they sell starbucks stuff but this is not starbucks). I quiet did not understand what they meant but i was fine to pay them cash. All i was concerned was the coffee and it was delicious.

There is a mall which is very close to the hotel and we had some good time there too. While it is just about 200meters away, i would not recommend a walk(the street looks deserted).

Overall a brilliant experience and i would love to go back to this hotel.

Well run resort hotel

GordonTheExpress on 14/08/2017 04:51

We arrived at the hotel after a long drive down from Mexico City. From the first moment you can see the hotel is well run.

Upon arrival, security checked we had a reservation then admitted us to the main lobby which opens out into a valet parking area.

A chap called Pepe introduced himself, attended to having our car parked, led us through check in and then delivered our luggage to our room and ran through how to use its amenities.

We had opted for a "Club 89" room which included a balcony with a super view as well as access to the "Club 89" lounge with breakfast in the morning and snacks and drinks in the evening. All the staff at the hotel were attentive and efficient, but particular credit to Alehandro in the club lounge who went beyond the call of duty attending to our needs. Well done!

The hotel has three excellent pools, including a wave pool surrounded by a sand "beach", and in-pool bars which I love. Very decadent!

The hotel is spotless with many staff on hand keeping things tidy. Our room was serviced twice a day and generally everything is well run.

The grounds of the hotel are nicely laid out and there are plenty of places to chill out. The bars are good and inexpensive, and there was some live entertainment too.

Overall a very relaxing place to stay, with excellent faculties and superb staff.
