Renovated and in quiet location
snorringBommelon 13/02/2017 15:58We needed a hotel for one night in this area and choose hotel In den Bonten Os.
Reservation per internet worked fine and a question was answered within a few hours by email.
The hotel is located on a main road, but in a quiet residential area with lots of forest around. Enough parking space for our car.
Check-in went rapid and professional, but not extremely inviting.
The hotel seems recently renovated. Our room was located on the ground floor and had direct access to a small terrace (in February without furniture). The room was spacious, clean, had a separate toilet and a separate bathroom with shower in the bathtub,bathrobe, slippers, extra pillow and blanket provided for 1 person, 2 single beds pushed together, good working heating, no airco. Our room was also recently renovated in a modern decor, but a bit dull to our taste.
A weird detail of the room : there is a small door opening from the corridor into the cupboard (to bring roomservice without disturbing the guests?), but the opening seems big enough to let a small person enter the room without using a key. As very little rooms were occupied during our stay and no receptionist is on duty during the night, we decided put a chair in front of the cupboard to avoid uninvited guests to climb into our room.
Breakfast, included in the price, was nice, fresh and had a good choice of bread, pastry, cheese, ham, sweet items, fruit juice, fresh and dried fruits, yoghurt, etc.
All in all, our room and breakfast were worth the price and we would recommend this hotel for a short stay. We would not choose it for a holiday as we felt the entire atmosphere a bit sad.

Thera1974on 02/09/2016 14:58No greetings, no smile on arrival. It was really the worse welcome I have ever had in a hotel. Just words like: passport...one night? room no.... Be warned! No help with luggage, no lift!
It is an old fashion hotel with large rooms but everything looks old and belonging to another century. Our room was extremely hot (just above 30 degrees) and we could not open the window properly. No fan, no AC.
On a busy road so ask to have a room at the back if you are a light sleeper.
Poor WIFI.
Large car park.
Breakfast is a cold buffet.
Didn't feel welcome
HenkvanEsson 23/05/2016 17:38Receptionist not greeting for minutes while typing frantically on a keyboard - so I had no clue if he had seen me or not. Walked out the hotel and came back later and this time it worked. Receptionist asked for ID , gave it, but didn't gave me ID back. Had to fetch it myself later.
Hotel was in the middle of a renovation but didn't offer any compensation for loud noise and indirect access to rooms. Worst WiFi I encountered in years. Only choose this location because in Antwerp everything was booked. Never again.
Glad it was only for two nights
rogdock77on 06/02/2016 18:39Needed to stay in this area for a family funeral. Chose this place because it has a restaurant and we were looking forward to dinner on arrival, but it was closed due to private function. No alternative was offered, staff really weren't bothered, although later they did offer one free dinner for the next night, which we didn't want. However another guest suggested the Brasserie Leysen across the road, which was excellent.
Hotel rooms are large, and we found the beds comfortable, and the plumbing all worked. Be aware that their website says that the prices includes a Full English Breakfast. No It Doesn't! Breakfast was the usual cold buffet. Bread choice limited to hard small rolls or cut you own loaf too soft to butter. Coffee a bit thin and very fancy teabags with no flavour. Campanile do it so much better.

SWOT as usual :
- S : big & clean rooms, internet works fine, super breakfast. Very calm when you ask for room garden side.
- W: Traffic is dense on road in front of hotel - difficult to connect to highway due to that/ Rooms ( as the entire place ) looks a little " old-fashioned "
- O : a re-looking would probably make a big difference.
- T : Further degrading if O is not taken care of.. Would be a shame though since this place really delivers value for money.
