The Rio Othon Palace was truly set the standards high in customer service and accommodations!! Every day was pleasant and extraordinary! Breakfast on the top floor overlooking the Copacabana beach was an experience that everyone should enjoy! So many staff members made this trip even more enjoyable. Here are a few that we want to recognize: Daniel Dimottros, Louiza, Celia, Carmenzina, and Van Carlos!! Thank you all and we look forward to our next adventure in Rio!!

the hotel is very good, the breakfast too, the view of lateral rooms are very good, The bar , in some nights have a very nice shows. Th swimingpool of the top has a very good views. and a good things to eat.

Having read recent reviews we checked in to this hotel with a bit of in-trepidation. However these concerns were completely unwarranted. Our room on 22nd floor was big, clean and very comfortable, with great views of Copacabana beach and bay. Breakfast, on the 3rd floor, was excellent, with a Large choice of both hot and cold options. We stayed here 4 days and not once were there queues or issues of any description with the breakfast area. Same goes for the hotel lifts which were prompt and efficient. Check in and out were fine and all the staff very friendly.
The hotel is in a great central location for exploring Rio. There are lots of good restaurants nearby along with two supermarkets and other shops. The metro is only 4 blocks away and was very easy to use. The area around the hotel can seem slightly seedy, specially after dark, however we never experienced any issues, albeit we were never out after 10pm!
The hotels free wifi worked fine.
Management of the room mini bars is clearly an issue that needs to be resolved, as like many reviewers before we also had charges on our bill when we had not used it. To be fair when queried the charges were removed without quibbling.
This is outside of the control of the hotel, but be very wary of some of the yellow taxis that wait outside the hotel. Most are decent and honest, but as we found out not all of them are! The first one we used tried to scam us by assuming we didn't know our way around. He tried to take us on a very circuitous route to the Botanical Gardens that, had we not drawn a swift halt to the trip, cost us double what was necessary. We gave him two chances to take the correct route but when he refused we stoped the journey and hailed one of the numerous honest drivers cruising the streets. Rio taxi drivers - if you want tourists to use your services, start dealing with theses dishonest and corrupt members of your profession!

I returned after almost 20 years to this hotel. The location cannot be beaten, and if you have the window on one of the top floors overlooking the beach (you have to ask for that), you will be impressed. Rooms are large, the beds comfortable and the breakfast is ample, with particularly good fruit juices which get top marks. However, the booking system is prone to hazards, they charged me three times and took their time to reimburse me and I lost money in conversion. If you leave early in the morning you may only find one person on duty and the person who checked me out was quite clueless: the reserve deposit was charged on my account and they needed to charge me one cent in order to reimburse me. Also, I stayed three nights, leaving two early to have breakfast the last day and their accounting system is not capable allowing you to have it on the first day instead. So go there for location and nespresso capsules by your bed. The staff is uniformly polite.

From the time that we were checked in by Erica to the time we departed six days later, we found the service from everyone was excellent. The room was comfortable and the view was spectacular. The room was spotless thanks to Silvia and Adriana.
Meals were average but fair value with a few items very good. It was fair value and good quality. The pool bar was a beautiful spot like the pool. Our thanks to Valdenir for his help.
