Booked for dinner at a pre-wedding event where there was a large attendance of the England Cricket Team. The Rock Inn had been warned well in advance of the likely numbers and occasion but evidently was very much under-staffed. Nevertheless the owner publicly berated the mother of the bride that the ensemble was making too much noise and consequently she had lost several customers who had booked for a meal. Her very rude berating ignored the very significant takings from the many thirsty, wealthy individuals present

Fabulous setting nestled amongst the trees. Beautiful property oozing character. First class service by very friendly staff who are very knowledgeable about the area. Our room was modern and comfortable but retained the charm of the lovely old building. Shower was fantastic. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and were blown away by the 5* standard of quality and presentation. All locally sourced as the chef explained. Great place to stay.

We visited Rock Inn for lunch en route to Devon. What a fantastic surprise! Innovative, well presented food. My wife started with a crab soufflé followed by steak.I started with fish soup and then the duck - both succulent and tasty. Very friendly and welcoming hosts. We ate in the pub which was homely. There is also a dining room which is in a rustic chic style.

As it was our wedding anniversary we thought a visit to the Rock might be a good idea. Wrong, the evening started with what is possibly the coldest seat we have ever been offered in a restaurant - near to the open entrance door. When I asked could the door be closed the lady host basically was rude saying 'you want to eat, well the kitchen staff need to keep cool'. I have news for you lady host - get some bloody fans or air conditioning in your kitchen. So, that was how our special evening began. The food was OK, as was the drink, but overpriced.
