What People are saying

Awesome place, fun activities, regular restaurant service

jcaste2001 on 23/04/2017 02:31

The place is beautiful and cleverly built on the side of a mountain. Every room is a cabin, maybe not a luxury one, but very comfortable and spacious. They are also kind of isolated among them, so you really have the opportunity to enjoy the views and natural sounds with enough privacy. However you'll have to walk a lot, specially if you're staying at cabins 27 & 28. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, we made it part of our adventure!!
Regarding the activities offered by the hotel (zip line, kayak, archery, etc) they could be a little bit expensive when purchased individually, so we bought a package that included 5 of them per day. The personnel/instructors in charge of those activities really go the extra mile to make sure that you have a fun and safe experience.
The only negative aspect we found was the service at the restaurant. Waiters took excessive time to take orders, serve drinks and food, and bring the checks. And this had nothing to do with a crowded restaurant, since we had the same issues even when there were just a couple of families using it. Things were worse with the restaurant at close to full capacity.
Moreover, the menu didn't have a lot of options. After a couple of days you get a sense of boredom, the lunch and dinner menu is exactly the same. They don't have a kids' menu, which is not a big deal, it would just be nice to have.
In summary we had a great time at this hotel, but it wasn't perfect due to the restaurant's service.

Leaving in Switzerland and feeling home seek? This is the place.

Stay there a few days. You have a little chalet with king size bed, a fire place and a heater. Everything is nicelyt decorated and somehow charming. No TV in the room. Water presure could have been more. Breakfast is fantastic as they make whatever you ask on the spot. Breakfast place overlooking heated swimming pool and a small lake..
Lot's of kid around the place during the weekend. If you ask for a taxi it could take up to 20'.

Day business meeting

MauricioBabilonia on 30/01/2017 20:02

This review does not including the rooms, because I did not stay at the hotel overnight. I participated in a meeting of our company there, arriving early in the morning and leaving late in the afternoon. The place is pretty and has many rooms that work well for a business meeting. The food provided by the event center is wonderful. Other than the difficulties to travel from Mexico City to here due to traffic in DF, this was very good!

Summer camp for adults?

oma664 on 14/01/2017 21:55

A lovely property. We came with a group; when we arrived we were served a terrific BBQ in the tented adjunct to the bar. That indoor/outdoor feel, with the lake just off our shoulders. We watched the aide take the kids to a fire to make s'mores, cute.
We had a great "cabin" with 2 beds on "main floor" and a ladder to a loft for the kids' beds. It was quite cozy.
The ONLY complaint is that the cabins are strewn around the lush grounds. Therefore it was a long walk to the main lodge area. We had to call for a car to shuttle us, even still, it was a bit of a hike to get to the main road. The car was too large to make it all the way to our cabin. A bad situation for the walking-challenged such as I.We both suggested they run golf carts between the cabins and lodge; they will look into it.

There are so many activities, many centered around the large, lovely lake.

The food was so delicious and the service was very attentive. We had a terrific time, wish it had been a longer stay.

The price doesn't match the place

This is a great place to escape the city, only 1hr drive from DF, when you get there you really get a mountain feel. The cabins are nice, but honestly for the price I was expecting much more, everything looked a little unkept (not rugged, just not well taƱen care of). We did't get hot water for the fist 12 hours, we reported it late on the fist night and they fixed it the next morning, which meant loud banging right outside our door at 7:00am (no change of rooms was offered) Even when the hot water was fixed there wasn't enough of it to fill the tub, which I would have been ok with in a truly rustic cabin, but not in a luxury hotel. The service in the restaurant is very good, but roomservice is terrible, staff has to cary trays up tons of stairs (the cabins are set on the mountain) and on the two nights we order food delivered to the room they had to go back down 2 times to get things they had forgotten (wine opener, ketchup for fries, a knife, etc.), which took forever each time. It destroyed the "relaxed", "romantic" feeling of dinning on our terrace and wasn't worth it, we should have gone down to the restaurant.
