We needed to go to Pa. because of a sickness. Because of the holiday weekend most of the places in the area were full. We booked the Rodeway Inn against family opposition and made out fine. The room was ready, clean and non smoking. Not the nicest area of the city and it seemed like a lot of the guests were local people. But as I said everything went fine and we had no problems.

My 73 year old mother insisted on staying here for the low price, I just left here there tonight. The staff was pleasant enough, but the housekeeper woman was kind of shocked when she found out my mom was staying there alone! "Lock this, lock that, put on the chain, cameras are up there, call the office if you have any trouble!!" Ha serves her right for being so cheap, hope she doesn't get mugged by weirdos! Sheets did not have any stains or bugs so I guess they are trying at least. One window had cats in it, people live there the sign outside says "Low weekly rates". 9 bucks more you can stay at the Econolodge which is quite clean and stink free.

Lots of kids riding scooters and bikes, people getting haircuts on sidewalk in front of the doors
Hotel pictures are very, misleading rooms are cramped. I heard car alarms going off all night, someone took a baseball bat to a car near me. Hotel room has no smoke alarm desk did not replace it during the day. Bathroom was pathetic. I have never seen a tub so worn that the enamel is coming off in slabs, and I needed both hands to make the water faucet turned on.
Someone had kicked bathroom door in, never replaced or repaired.
The only ice machine is in the office, is available at the discretion of the front desk, and seems only to be for adult male customers who are not who are not on the weekly rate. Women who I asked where there is an ice machine told me that there was no ice available.
NO SMOKE ALARM- missing prior to our arrival, not replaced on request
Free breakfast: I have never met a doughnut but I did not like, and till the roadway inn

Was there for a karate banquet, serving staff forgot a few tables, we never got coffee, or plates cleared away.
Took my son to use the bathroom and it was about as disgusting as you're mind will let you imagine!
Refused to let him use the toilet, ended up driving him home.
Place is old, tired and run down, I can't imagine how bad the rooms are if the banquet facility is so bad.

When I pulled into the driveway I saw something splended in the form of old mattresses out with the trash. It was about 1:30pm when i checked in and I was able to get a room right away. The person at check-in was courtieous and gave me the room key. When I got to my room it was basicially what I'd expect from a Rodeway Inn, since I stayed at a couple other ones in the past. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Everything in the bathroom worked in the manner that it should. I did have to get new batteries for the remote, which staff kindly provided. Later it turns out that the batteries weren't the problem, it was the power button, which I was able to turn on and off the TV manually. The room had a refridgeator, which the freezer needed to be defrosted however I wasn't going to place anything in the freezer. After a pleasant nights sleep I went to the office for the continental breakfast, which was just adequate. I don't know if there was an early rush since it was just before 9am when I ate. There was plenty of cereal to choose from and white toast however they had only a few fruit newtons and literally a couple of Hostess Donuts that you would find in the supermarket. The coffee was fresh however instead of orange juice and apple juice, they had Sunny Delight or some variation of it, which was a disapointment. I did make do however I was concerned that there was no sense in needing to refill the donuts and thay fruit newtons really aren't an acceptable alternative to danish of mini muffins. Check out was easy and I would stay at this property if I'm in the Allentown area, since it's a reasonable price.
