A real find

We stayed in Roi Soleil for one night on our way from Italy back to London. The hotel offers great value for a (very modest) price; a clean and comfortable room with free Wi-Fi, TV and a safe; plenty of parking; a beautiful breakfast buffet which exceeded our expectations. There are plenty of dining options in the area and, as guests of Roi Soleil, we received a 10% discount at Villa Roma restaurant. There is also a zoo and a casino nearby. Altogether a real find.
Great for an overnight stay.

We stopped here, on the journey down to Italy. The hotel is in a very quiet location. We received a very friendly welcome, and given lots of information. The room was a little dated, but for the money you pay, much better than a campanile, that's for sure. We slept well, and enjoyed the bountiful breakfast, with some lovely fresh bread. We felt well refreshed for the next stage of our journey. The hotel has a gated car park, which was great, as it gives that extra level of security. There is a number of "chain" restaurants just a minute or two walk from the hotel. We used the "buffalo grill" as it gave a 15% discount for Roi soleil guests. Also close to the motorway and real easy to find.
Greadt budget option in Amneville

Roi de Soleil is a superb budget option in this region. It’s in right in the middle of the Amneville entertainment complex, with its own parking outside.
The room was fairly large (twin beds), although a little bit smelly. There is of course no a/c, and there’s a sign on the window advising to keep it closed lest insects enter the room – so you can choose between hot and stuffy (it was during the day) or airy with a plethora of bugs.
Room was quite clean but rather old and worn. Lots of wardrobe space, and even a room safe. LCD TV with BBC world, SCART input. Wifi was fast at 7mbps. Nice, big wardrobe.
The bathroom was large enough and looked like it had been recently renovated.
The reception area had some seating, some newspapers, lots of brochures about nearby activities, two large vending machines – and a wonderful touch – a microwave oven for guest use.
Can definitely recommend the place, although it tends to be full over weekends.
just a quick week-end

I went to the hotel for a short week-end relaxing at the spa in Amneville.
The hotel is well situated, next to all the activities of Amneville, no need to use your car at all.
The hotel is pretty noisy, beds aren't really comfortable but out of that, everything's fine, the breakfast is really really good for the price, staff was friendly at anytime!!!
good hotel, let down by rotten staff.

We went to see a gig in Amneville last Winter, and to a Brit, the place seems like a large Butlins type resort, with two hotels (I think?), a bowling alley, cinema, concert hall, petting zoo and restaurants all in one campus-type area. A bit strange, but we only booked it because of it's proximity to where the gig was. The place would probably be great for families. But only fluent French families.
We had a huge, lengthy issue where the girl on the desk couldn't find the bookin, even with the confirmation email sent to us directly by the hotel. She was horrible, disrespectful and laughed in our faces and spoke about us in French to other guests. We speak enough French to know she was anti-British. The silly girl didn't realise our French was better than her English. Her attitude was shocking, disgusting.. The manager wasn't much better and the cleaners ignored the 'do not disturb' sign.
The room was decent enough, pretty clean. The bathroom was nice, well-looked after.
We didn't eat in the hotel, but breakfast did look ok!
Location-wise, it's great for gigs at the Galaxie in Amneville.
Overall, a good hotel let down by the hideously rude staff.
