What People are saying
Great hotel, yet some small negative points!

I spent a week in the hotel during October. Romano palace is a great hotel, very clean, friendly and fast service. It was a good stay overall.
The extremely hot water in the shower was a problem, breakfast was a little disappointing (not so fancy I would say) and the language barrier is also a problem. You have to double check that the employees understood what you meant because in many situations they would nod and say ok even, if they are not sure what they understood haha
Hotel is located directly at the main beach of Catania, so it is great if you want to beach it. To the center there are two hotel shuttles (morning and afternoon) which you could take. It is a 5 or 10 minute ride.
Arrivederci!
So Beautiful Experience. Great Staff. Very convenient!

We had an amazing staying at this hotel. The location is magnificent, been very close to the airport, walking distance from the beach and next to the beautiful Liotru wood adventure park. By walking through the the impressive trees park, a convenient shopping mall can be reached and accessed with different kind of stores. The hotel itself is beautiful and included all the desired amenities: great and delicious breakfast, beautiful and luxury rooms, transportation and access to the beach. Everybody from the staff was kind and educated. Will definitively come back!
Total disappointment

Please note that this is NOT a five star hotel according to international standards and the Deluxe room is certainly NOT Deluxe. I would rate this establishment max. 2 1/2 stars. They may have renovated the room a few months ago, but as for the bathroom…….. It was very small, dirty and outdated. There was no shower cap and the hand towels were a dirty yellow. There was no view of the swimming pool, as the bushes obscured our view (we were on the second floor). The outside of the building is in a very bad state and desperately needs renovating. The mini bar did not even contain a bottle of wine and there were only plastic cups for the drinks!!! (Is this typical of a 5 star establishment?). We decided to book a top 5 star hotel for our last night in Sicily and you can imagine our total disappointment. If we book a five star hotel, then we expect 5 star accommodation according to international standards. Only one positive aspect – we only booked for one night!
Honeymoon

Overpriced not 5 star they knew we were on honeymoon but no special fuss not even a chocolate on pillows!
Never going back again very disappointed
Also we witnessed poachers killing rabbits at night in the park at back of hotel finally they moved us to the front after a lot of negotiations.
Pick-up from and to the Airport failed!

We as a family with two small kids (3 and 6 years old) used this hotel only for one night. We arrived Catania Airport in the evening and after one night we went back to the Airport to pick up our rental car for our vacation. Not to mention that a good pick-up from the Airport to the hotel and from the hotel back to the Airport was very important for us.
We organised with the hotel in advance a pick-up from the Airport for € 20. According to the confirmation we received by e-mail from the hotel, a Mr Antonio La Spina should have been waiting for us at the Airport. We watched out for him several times but he was not there. We had his mobile no., just in case, but his mobile was switched off on that evening. We called three times the hotel's reception but they put us off and assured that Mr Antonio La Spina will be soon with us. After waiting of a bit more than 50 minutes (!) with our tired kids at the Airport, we took just a regular taxi for € 20 and drove to the hotel. The driving time was only 10 minutes!
Really very upset we reached the hotel and explained to the lady at the reception (the one with whome we talked three time while we were waiting at the Airport) that this service was very poor, the only answer she had was that the driver had been at the Airport but that he could unfortunately not have found us. At that time, this was a very poor excuse!
The room and the beds were OK, the little garden in front of the room was covered with cigarette ends and the shower had a weak water jet. Breakfast was not bad but nothing special. The only good experience was the quality of the food and the service in the restaurant of the hotel.
The next day, another lady at the reception called a taxi for us to go back to the Airport and guess what? No taxi came to pick us up! We walked to the street (with kids and luggage) and took just a empty taxi which was passing by.
To sum up our short stay at Romano Palace Luxury Hotel with *****:
Price-performance ratio is really not good and the hotel management would be well advised to teach their staff better how they have to deal with angry customers!
