Just got home today from a fabulous stay at this hotel. From the minute we arrived all the staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely cool drink on arrival after a long flight was very appreciated.
The cottage in the gardens were very spacious and very clean the maid Angela was very friendly and always put fresh flowers in every day.
The food was great a wide selection at every meal in the buffet restaurant and the staff once again very attentive and friendly. Had two meals in the a late carte restaurant one of them was a birthday celebration for my daughter's boyfriend and all the waiters were brilliant and even sang happy birthday, a special thank you to Philip as he is such a friendly Happy person and made our night memorable.
The entertainment team are great we enjoyed taking part in the daily activities and the night entertainment was brilliant the decameron dancers and house band were excellent to.
We will definitely be returning and that is due to the excellent staff we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and cannot wait to go again.
Amazing vacation

I just returned home yesterday from an amazing Mom and Daughters trip and I wish we were still there. Transfer from the airport was approximately an hour and check-in took minutes. Everything was great from the minute we arrived until we left. The staff/team members at this resort go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.
We were in room 109. The rooms here are individual cottage style buildings equipped with a comfortable king size bed, sofa bed, desk and a couple chairs. There is a flat screen TV and my 7 year old found a cartoon station that she liked and it was the only thing watched while in the room all week. The room has a large walk in closet with plenty of shelving and a rack for hanging your clothes. They are equipped with a safe at an extra charge of $2US per day, I didn’t bother with it and had no issues. The bathrooms are dated but adequate, I didn’t expect anything more for a 3* resort. Outside our room we had a couple Muskoka chairs and a hammock to relax on. The lighting in the room was a bit of a challenge and the lack of a mini-fridge was disappointing but we made do. The housekeeping team did a great job and my daughter looked forward to the setup they would do every day with her blankets and stuffies.
Wifi is available for $5 per hour or $20 for 24 hours, you can sign in and out so you don't have to use it all at once. I purchased a roaming plan from home so I never used the wifi and cannot comment on how good it is.
The food was very good! In the buffet at breakfast there is an egg grill, bacon, sausage, ham or fish, waffles, pancakes and French toast plus potatoes, beans, plantains, breads, cereal, fruit, yogurt and several choices of juice. Lunch was available at the buffet or grill. The buffet had many choices and the grill had jerk wings, burgers, hot dogs, pizza, fries and the most delicious Jamaican patties. For dinner there is an a la carte that alternates between Asian and Caribbean fusion each night with two sittings at 7 and 8:30. We didn’t try either so I cannot comment. The buffet had a different theme each night and always had a good variety. Service in the dining rooms was phenomenal! As soon as you sat down one of the team was there to pour water or coffee and take your drink order. I didn’t get all of our servers’ names but two that really stood out were Damion and Malcolm, both really great guys. The dress code is very casual, as long as you have shoes and a cover up you’re fine. I always like to dress up a bit for dinner but if others don’t – no problem!
The entertainment team was the best I’ve encountered at any resort. There were activities scheduled daily both at the pool and beach and they included everyone and were great with the kids. Thank you VIP, M&M, Mr.Cool, Razor, Skittles and Flames for making this such a fun vacation! Nightly there was a pre-show, followed by recognition for those who participated throughout the day and then the main show which alternated between the Royal Decameron dancers or guest participation. I never made it into the disco so I cannot comment on it.
The bar staff was great! I didn’t note their names but once they got to know you they’d bring you your drink before you had to ask.
I wish I had of noted more names so I could give them a shout out. Regardless of which part of the resort they were responsible for - guest services, front desk, life guards, water sports, housekeeping, ground keeping, every single person I encountered was friendly and helpful.
Regarding tipping and gifting, quite often at Jamaican resorts it is not allowed but here tip freely. If you choose to bring gifts you will need to get a form from the front desk and list the gifts and team member it is for otherwise they will not be allowed to take it.
For those that of you who are reading this and trying to decide if this is where you want to spend your vacation. This is a 3* resort with 5* service and people. If you choose the Royal Decameron Club Caribbean keeping this in mind you will not be disappointed. I am already planning our return trip early next year.

My wife and I were returning guest to this resort. I cannot knock the staff as they went beyond their duties to help all patron out and that I thank them for. The website said free wifi. We had to pay $20 for 24 hours that can be used over the time that we were at the resort. I must make a shout out to the whole entertainment crew VIP, Mr Cool (glad to see him back), Detergent, Skittles, Slimmas (who was handing out the towels) and Kandy Krush. You need to do something with the Entertainment Manager, he was more annoying with the microphone than anything else. The Lifeguards and the gardeners, my wife and I salute you all for the hard work in making the place look very nice from 07.30 until finish.
I cannot knock the food at the resort, but after two weeks, it was more like repetitive and became boring. The nightclub, sorry, boring as we had more entertainment outside the resort.
The two restaurants, Jasmine Delta, that got a thumbs down but Nyammings, that was ok, but the server Phillip, he got a gold star. He was such a nice and happy person that we wanted to invite him over to the UK so he could spread some of his happiness.
I wanted to give feedback and speak highly of Decameron's Customer Service and to let them know of the excellent work the staff is doing, but Customer Services cannot be bothered to respond to emails, maybe because they have returning guest, only they know. I did inform Decameron that the hotel down the road was doing the same as what they were doing £100.00 cheaper, but my wife and I decided to go to Royal Decameron. I have emailed them several times to no avail. I know £4800 might be a drop in the ocean, but I know for that money, I will have to go find another hotel and if they treat us right, then we will be back.
I forgot to mention Janet and her room cleaning staff, thank you all for the great work that you guys have done for us whilst we were there. I am sure you all deserve a pay rise, however, the way customer services treat there customers, people will be voting with their feet. One final thing, how come I did not see ANY Jamaicans working in top management at Runaway Bay? Only an observation.

From the time me and my mother got there we thought wow. It looks nothing from the outside but when you go in, wow. The gardens are beautiful and the ocean is right on your doorstep, especially if you choose a beach front cottage. The guys at the water sports Omar and Maleek are very friendly and aleays said hello. Life guards Delmar and Clive were so friendly. You could not miss Mr cool you heard him before you seen him sometimes.
The entertainment team were so good especially the dancers.
I can not mention everyone but everybody was so friendly and came and spoke to you
I felt at home after a few days of being there and was so sad to leave, I would love to go back next year.

Right from arriving at reception & checking in things were great. All the staff are friendly, slightly mad, laid back & cannot do enough to make sure your stay is as good as possible. The bar staff, especially Daniel & BIG Mike, are the best around, never had to wait, as soon as they see you, the drinks are being poured !! The pool attendants, Entertainers. Gardeners & water sports guys are superb too, especially MR COOL & NICKY B. Food is varied, always hot & good tasting. Rooms are basic, lets face it, you only sleep, wash & get changed there, so they are more than fit for purpose. Booking to go back next year, cannot find ANYTHING to moan about !
