A WONDERFULL STAY

Stayed here in October with my mum who cannot walk very far. Great central location for getting anywhere in Lancaster. The castle is 5 mins walk up the hill. Car park at back of hotel is very handy and the staff could not be more helpful. We loved the old quirky lift that has a grill and 2 doors to shut it and the refurbishments they have done are really good. The place has such character and for the rice cannot be beaten. The breakfast room and chandelier is gorgeous ( as was the breakfast ). WE WILL BE BACK! Thanks for the great laughs staff!
Undergoing renovations

We stayed at the Royal Kings Arms overnight to attend a local event.
It is central & easy to walk around Lancaster having arrived by train.
The hotel is undergoing renovation which unfortunately had not reached our floor. This hotel has seen much better days & has the potential to be lovely but much of it still has 1980’s peeling wallpaper & threadbare carpet.
I would visit again but probably not until the renovations are complete.
In need of quick refurb..

Stopped here 4th nov on a group booking and was very unhappy with what was experienced. This Hotel, in its days, must have shown great splendour and the refurbished dining room is evidence of that period and that dated lift was an enjoyment to use. But guys I do think this refurbishment project should be stated in your overview of hotel. I do thoroughly appreciate what you are doing and good luck, but not at the expense of the paying guest.
Our room was 209 avoid if possible if you are light sleeper ! complained about roaring noise whilst lying on bed to be told it was probably toilet extractor lol, more like hotel central heating boiler, most annoying !! would have liked to hear the truth. Bed was most comfortable just wish I could have slept.
Half Board was our meal plan which totally lacked organisation. I will not say anything further as to me it was an embarrassment and im sure it will be rectified. Breakfast was a little better, the cooked breakfast was quite presentable but nobody was asked their preference, feel sorry for any vegetarians...
Come on guys, get the basics sorted...... Wish you luck
Another great festival year at the Royal Kings Arms

Our 5th year in a row staying here for the Lancaster Festival and yet another great welcoming stay. New owners at the hotel and all new staff, and just like in previous years everyone we came in contact with from the boss to the bar staff were all extra friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Newly refurbished bar and concert areas were top quality. Look forward to seeing the cellar bar next year! Festival is not on next year (they’re having a fallow year like Glastonbury!) but we will still be coming through for our weekend in Lancaster and wouldn’t consider any other hotel 👍
The original and always the best

Just returned home from another very enjoyable stay at The Royal Kings Arms Lancaster, been to this hotel many many times over the years and never ever been disappointed.
Staff are hard working and the friendliest you're ever likely to meet, from the manager to the night porter are all a credit to the hospitality industry.
Bar and dining/ function room are now stunning and I would say wedding venue standard, some other refurbishment is ongoing.
Continues to tick all the boxes as the most user friendly, best location, best value hotel in Lancaster.
See you next autumn if not sooner.
Thanks team.👍😁
