Super stay in a great hotel!
Matthew Pon 20/07/2017 21:42Booked this hotel with Thomsons as part of a saver deal so we didn't know which hotel we were actually staying in till we got to Verona. Turned out to be a pretty good choice. The Rubino is in an excellent location, handy for the cable car, climbing wall, town centre with shops and bus stops, and you can do easy flat forest walks from the door if you want a quiet day. Canazei, and other villages are a short but enjoyable walk away. Our room was on 3rd floor, spacious, comfy and with a view to die for over towards the Sassolungo peaks. Usual facilities, but sadly no coffee or tea-making facilities. The room was cleaned every day , with fresh towels etc. Food was excellent with plenty of choice for your evening meal, which always included a couple of local Ladin dishes if you fancied trying them. We enjoyed the evening meals and usually found something we liked. Breakfasts were the usual buffet style, not very inspiring, but again, we always found something to enjoy. Staff were very attentive and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The manager also made his presence felt and made a point of chatting to guests. Not much to do in the village at night, but the hotel hs decent bar and provided entertainment on several nights.
It served its purpose
Raf Mon 19/07/2017 17:19Rooms are comfortable and spatious. They are kept very clean but the carpet is like 65 year old. Try to get a room at the front side for the view.
The staff is very helpfull and friendly but the manager looks fake in his friendliness. He also humiliated his staff in the presence of guests. He overcharged us at the bar. As of then I no longer enjoyed my stay.
The meals are of mediocre quality and not what you'd expect in a ****S hotel.
Parking is free but scarse. You can however use the parking of the neighbouring hotel Diamant.
Elevator sufficed. Luggage trolley was helpful.
Animation was of amateur level, except for the magician. Don't miss this act!
Will I return here? I might.
EXCELLENT Hotel outstanding service
Margalit Yon 13/03/2017 22:49Walking Distance (~200 meters) from the main lifts and 100 meters from center. Rooms are pretty large with mineral water right from the faucet! very clean and well equipped rooms. The restaurant serves first class food, more like 5 starts with a personal attention and welcoming smile.
The SPA is very good and important part of after ski experience. The Hotel Manager, Mr. Minnucci Fabrizio, is very professional, kind and keeps the highest standards of service and attention .
Any request or need you may have, will be addressed with the highest priority. We had a problem that was solved beyond our expectation!
The stay here upgraded our overall vacation experience. a place to come back!
Unfriendly and they do the bare minimum to satisfy
MarkR1982on 27/02/2017 13:22We booked this through Crystal after asking one of their telesales staff which one of a couple of hotels in the area were best for vegetarians (my wife is a vegetarian).
We were dropped off a short walk away by the Crystal Ski transfer but the welcome from hotel staff was not what you would call friendly and was literally just going through the motions of checking us in. Nothing was explained about any of the facilities or services offered other than times for dinner and breakfast.
When it came to dinner that evening we were given a menu to choose from a handful of options and also shown all the menus for the week in a binder. Unfortunately, the "vegetarian" options for all but one of two evenings was fish. Speaking with restaurant staff they simply said "well, what do you want then?". A phrase which should sound accommodating and helpful but instead just sounded like we were causing too much trouble. This didn't sit right at all as there are signs up all around the hotel saying they are happy to cater for gluten free and other dietary requirements.
A small niggle was that Crystal advertised free wifi but what that actually meant was this hotel offers 1 hour free wifi per day. It is a painful process to access it too as you have to create an account each time and you are given two 10 digit numbers for username and password and you can only create one account per 24 hours. You can also login via Facebook credentials which then makes you wait 60 seconds before connecting to the wifi, unless, you "Like" their facebook page. This explains the 900 likes on their facebook page.
After complaining to Crystal about the lack of food choices for my wife, we were moved into a separate dining room where they offer a "better" menu. This one did offer a proper vegetarian option in the vegetarian section for each night. However the service still seemed like we were a burden rather than welcome guests.
The hotel offers ski lockers but we had to find out about those ourselves and ask for a key which we were reluctantly given. This is very worthwhile as despite the ski room having a keypad to unlock, it was open all day and into the evening so anyone could walk in off the street and into the ski room. It is a quiet area though but still. The downside is the keypad access is switched off overnight so if you go down before the open it (we went down at 8.10 to get on the first lift at 8.30am) you will not be able to get in. We ended up waiting 15 minutes one morning and when my wife went to ask someone to let us in, she got shouted at by one man working behind reception! He shouted "OK, OK!" and cut her off speaking. Disgusting behaviour for anyone but especially for a hotel employee to do to a paying guest.
The obsession with them locking things goes further too. We were due to be picked up at 5.50am by the transfer. We checked out the night before and paid our bill. We didn't say anything about the 1EUR service charge for tap water each night, (even though we knew from speaking to our waiter he was on work experience and working for nothing!) They knew we were leaving at 5.50am and despite that we went down to an empty reception and the front doors completely locked! Yes we were locked in. There was absolutely nobody around in the hotel and the room key did not unlock the front doors. I would have thought this was illegal as if there was a fire it doesn't bear thinking about. Luckily, they were double doors and the bolts holding the doors closed were loose enough to allow both doors to open. We had no choice other than to leave them completely open - yes Rubino management - that was us! You locked us in!
So despite feeling very unwelcome all week, they actually didn't want us to leave!
I do however, like to be positive where I can and the food was ok once we were moved to the "VIP dining room" and the room was a good size and clean if a little dated. The fridge in the room was useful to have and the bed, although two singles pushed together was very comfortable.
Campitello itself is a bit quiet with not much going on outside the hotel, Canazei is a much better option but it is only a short bus ride away. Don't pay for the bus either, we paid 6EUR each for a week long ski bus pass and were not asked to show it all week!
One more thing - one night they had a "Gala dinner" which was pretty much the same as any other night except they had a singer come to the hotel - she was awful!
A reasonable ski hotel
717roygon 06/02/2017 15:45Room : Good and clean roooms.
Location :The hotel is fairly close to the ski lift and to the city center.
Staff:Most of the staff was very professional and friendly except of the manager which i had an unpleasant experience with.
Facilities :The hotel has a ski room, jacuzzi, indoor pool and saunas.
Food: The breakfasts are repetitive and dinners are not very good.
