Fabulous clean and modern, very well-appointed room with balcony and amazing view of Wellington Harbour and skyline; superb welcoming, helpful and warmly professional Staff - true hotel hospitality stars (thank you to Jade most notably, but also our appreciation to the Reception and Concierge Teams in general); attractive decor throughout; delicious buffet breakfast with great selection of quality options; outstanding Restaurant: Portlander on Ground Floor; and last but not least, Rydges is ideally located in close proximity to the waterfront, Lambton Quay and the Beehive, Wellington Railway Station and other public transport; Te Papa, Courtenay Place and more!
Rydges ticked all the boxes and actually exceeded my expectations which were set quite high due to the fact it was a birthday stay.
Thank you Rydges for a wonderful relaxing and most enjoyable stay.
Recommend highly to all.
A lovely surprise
mpt2234on 14/11/2017 08:48We booked this accommodation last minute after having our previous booking fall through somewhere else. From the moment we arrived, the reception and concierge staff were so warm and welcoming. They went out of their way to help out and provided us with valuable information for our stay.
The room was much bigger and more modern than expected. It was very clean and the bed was really comfortable.
The porterhouse was disappointing for breakfast, service was minimal and the food was average. However, it should be noted the hotel was very busy as there had been big sporting events the night before so the restaurant was very busy which may have impacted the quality.
We would definitely stay here again.

luckys15on 10/11/2017 05:56The room itself was pretty big, which included a long does bed, a kitchen area, desk and lounge chair.
I think everything was fairly clean, except the frosted window on the inside of the bathroom. There were splatters of I don’t know what and also a big smudge of what looked like toothpaste maybe. It looked like it had tried to be wiped off but wasn’t done very well. This was a bit off putting as it was booked for business so I thought it would have been a lot cleaned bathroom wise. The toilet roll holder is behind you so you have to swing round just to grab some.
Overall it isn’t too bad. Centrally located and easy to get to and from the train station if need be. The buffer breakfast was good and there was quite a food variety. Their drinks selection was good too.
The girl who checked me in was very friendly too.

Ajplus3on 08/11/2017 16:52Stayed for a couple of nights and had the breakfast on our last day. Get it in the package as this is a good deal. Close to shops, restaurants and shed 6. Pool was awesome for the kids and nice friendly atmosphere. We had the cheap rooms that did the trick looking over at nz post building, but next time we’ll splash out and get a room with a view. Valet parking was hassle free, checked into hotel shortly after 3 pm.downside, don’t order room service after 11 pm. Took over an hour and was cold, not worth it as the options are limited.
Business breeze
Michael Hon 07/11/2017 18:46While only a one night stay, for work, I was impressed by the speed of check in, the room was ready at 8am, and the wifi was of a tolerable speed. Room wise, I had a16th floor room, think these are a grade above standard but nevertheless it was large and spotted an uber comfortable bed, small kitchen and decent sized bathroom.
Overall impression of the hotel, positive plus; was clean and efficient- the breakfast in the morning was one of the better hotel efforts too.
