What People are saying

Close to skiing but a little cramped

GeoffatMM on 31/03/2015 22:38

Excellent position for the ski lifts and parking was not an issue. Staff friendly and helpful. Apartment was tight. We were only three in a seven person unit and although baths and beds were OK, the living area was very tight. Plenty storage though including downstairs ski equipment cabinet.

Not spotless (very dusty on curtain and pole when it came down accidentally). No lifts so moving in and out a bit of a chore. Welcomed dogs though it was difficult to find a good place to walk them.

Very pleased

Elena G on 28/01/2015 15:31

The appartment was perfect and well equipped( dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, kettle) it was spacy and the terrace had a stunning view of the snowy mountains. Near to the station and the carrefour ( the way up to the appartment is tiring though, after a nice day of ski :)). The beg was big and confortable and it was really warm inside. The only "but" is that we had to clean everything when we left( toilet, shower, floors etc), and the cleaning products weren't provided: you could buy them for 7 euros at the reception, which i think, for the price we were paying its a bit too much. Anyway, i really enjoyed the stay, and i totally recommend it. Staff were very nice and helpful and spoke english, as opposed to the people in most ski shops/ rental places around.

make sure you know where you are staying as we went to a different P+V property at first higher up the valley. fantastic setting but purely a ski resort and not a village feel. we went for the cycling and walking...and found some brilliant days out too like Gavarnie. excellent

A disappointment

EnglishFamilyAbroad2 on 30/08/2012 13:15

We stayed here just over a week. We knew it was going to be basic accommodation - but were still disappointed. Having stayed in similar places in the Alps, we did expect decent and basic services. Basically Pierre et Vacances shut up for the summer - so you arrive at their reception to find a notice saying 'Fermee a Decembre 2012". You are directed to the building next door (quiet a distance away) where, once you have made it to the front of a huge queue, they roll their eyes at the mention of P&V.
The Residences are a series of apartments along the mountainside, built and run as cheaply as possible to seve the mass ski market. the impression is that anything they can make in the summer is a bonus, so they run a skeleton staff based next door. Claims of '"Any technical problems will be dealt with within 2 hours" were laughable - we told them, twice, that one room had no ceiling or bedside light bulb, but saw no technical support for the whole stay. "Free WiFi" was advertised - but they didn't tell you it was a 5 minute walk away, in the lounge of the other buildng.
The area is a Pastoral Zone - animals roaming free in the summer months - but there is no cattle grid to stop them roaming all over the accommodation. Outside every door were their droppings, frequently trodden into the accommodation, and we were woken every morning (and sometimes in the night too) by loud baa-ing of sheep, or the strident bells of sheep or llamas. Cute the first time...after a week it became an extreme irritation!
I don't like writing critical reviews - this is the first I have done - but we were so disappointed at the standard of these Residences, and it is our only holiday in the year.

Good apartments, very well located for skiing

BritabroadToulouse on 01/11/2011 11:00

We have stayed several times in these apartments as they are so well located for a family weekend's skiing.
They are situated above the main La Mongie area, but well served by a shuttle bus to take you up and down into the centre. You can also ski down directly by joining in on the end of a red run.
The apartments are functional - reasonably sized, but we always go for the biggest one we can get (i.e. for 2 adults + 3 kids ==> 7 pax apartment as that assumes that 2 sleep in the lounge). The bedrooms are just about big enough, and the bathrooms are good (the 7 pax comes with a good shower room as well). The kitchen is OK but you wouldn't want to do too many big cooking adventures!
There are ski lockers with each apartment, parking is a bit hit and miss but you can either park for free 500m away, or pay for the covered parking that is also 500m away. If heavy snow is forecast go for the covered...
The swimming pool is OK - changing rooms are a bit non existant but is great for a short dip with the kids even if it is heaving after the pistes shut!

The cafes/restos down in the central parade of shops in La Mongie are great for sitting in the sun and taking in the snowscape with a hot chocolate.

Overall, functional apartments that work very well for 2-3 days skiing as a family.
