Sunday lunch ... well worth a visit

I was staying down the road and decided to book for Sunday lunch, they were fully booked but offered us 2pm... I was thinking we would end up with the leftovers ... how wrong could I have been, we had to wait 30 minutes after ordering but they were busy and it was well worth the wait.... best Sunday lunch I've had in a while.. 10/10! beef was melt in your mouth and Yorkshire pudding was massive! Will book again when in the area.

Stayed for one night and a had great spacious room, four poster bed, settee etc. Shower left a little to be desired as it couldn't make up its mind if it was hot or cold...... breakfast was great BUT no evening food available at all and bar man quite smug about it. I except that some tables were reserved when we arrived but no-one explained that no food at all would be available for us, "room service couldn't be done" not even for a plate of sandwiches (there are only 5 bedrooms). As we had already had 2 drinks in the small bar area we couldn't drive to another restaurant so a delivered pizza it was, and I can thoroughly recommend Pizza Connection. Not quite the meal we were looking forward to but a lesson learnt and "average" is the best thing I can say about Barringtons.
one night away!

The hotel is in lovely surroundings, plenty of places to go for walks round the Peak District.
The hotel could do with a bit of updating but you forget about the decor as the staff are so friendly. The main bar manager Scott can't do enough for you and made me and my friend very welcome. Scott recommend the food and drinks and the food was really tasty, also the larger which we did have a few pints with Scott.
The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was superb and a great selection to choose from.will definitely stay here next time I come to Derbyshire.
Lovely stay apart from the shower

Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfy. However, the shower was appalling, no water pressure and went from hot and cold. We stayed for three nights so became very annoying.
Apart from that it was perfect, the dining room is small but beautiful with lovely wood panelling. Food was excellent value Monday to Thursday you could get 3 courses for £13.00 and at the weekend it went up to £18.00. 2 Steak or fish meals plus a bottle of wine for £30.00. Excellent value and although the portion sizes weren't huge it was very filling and we never made it to the 3rd course!
The breakfast menu was huge and all cooked to order and when it came was piping hot and nicely presented, my hubby reckoned it was the best fried bread he has had. I had the boiled egg and soldiers and it was also perfectly cooked (not easy).
Good parking, and a nice sitting out area. Lovely roads to ride in all directions.
Excellent value and if they fixed the water pressure issue and put a shelf in the shower then it would be totally perfect.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Quality accomodation and fabulous food . Deserves a five star rating

Barringtons is set in a perfect location, with Bakewell, Chatsworth and Matlock accessible within ten minutes. Whitworth Park is right behind the hotel and is worth a visit.
We stayed in room 2 (sleeps four) which was huge, a four poster bed (quite low though) 3 seater sofa bed, dressing table, wardrobe. The curtains comletely blocked out the morning light which is perfect for me neing a light sleeper.
This suite is crammed with character like two original fireplaces, original stained glass windows, dont expect pristine UPVC here, it wouldnt be in keeping with the age of the building.
Friends joined us for a three course evening meal which, again was gorgeous, must mention John, the waiter, who was so friendly and knowledgeable, even the local customers dogs were given doggy treats. Total cost for one nights accomodation, three course evening meal for four with wine, two fabulous breakfasts was £150! Cant wait to go back in the future.
