Stayed in a Shepherds Hut at Samlesbury Hall yesterday. Hut was beautiful, clean, modern, it had a shower room, tea making facilities and a very comfortable bed. Would recommend booking the breakfast, it was so nice in the dining room. Staff member Alice was such a nice member of staff, very friendly and great service from her. It's a lovely mini getaway!
Beautiful grounds and such a wonderful place to stay.

Who: Family of 4
What: Road Trip through England.
Pros: It's like stepping back in time! The lodge is modernly appointed and tucked away in a beautiful section of the grounds. There was plenty of space in the lodge and each teen had their own room. The rooms were very clean, not over-furnitured and inviting with plenty of space for us all. I also liked that the rooms were not carpeted (one of my biggest hotel pet-peeves is carpet). It also has one of the most beautiful bathrooms I've had the pleasure of using in a hotel. Restaurant on site and full-service breakfast, for a great rate. They even have the most adorable bar on site. The staff is also friendly, helpful and welcoming. You get the added bonus of being able to explore the grounds of a wonderful stately home, featuring a small bunny village and farm.
Cons: The grounds are large, so finding the lodge was a bit challenging at first. Not a show-stopper by any means.
Overall: We wished we could have stayed longer! it was an amazing experience to stay in such a lovely location. Would be great for a romantic weekend or a relaxing vacation.
They are adding additional accommodations, which are coming online now. These new shepherds huts look amazing and are fully functional with bathrooms. Such a wonderful addition to the grounds. We will be back.
Marvelous Experience in Small Country Lodge

We happened upon this lodge when looking for somewhere to stay to visit relatives outside of Preston. Located on the trust property Samlesbury Hall - the small lodge is well appointed and in a lovely spot. The Hall itself is open to visitors between 11-4 and is well worth a look. On the property are also lovely gardens and a small farm. After hours the main gate is locked and you are given a key to get in and out. The result is that one feels as if they have the "run of the place". There is also a good country pub nearby.
Great day out.

Our family visited Samlesbury Hall on Valentine's Day not sure what to expect, The grounds of this lodge are not huge but quaint. The original building being built in the 1300s has been fantastically kept. The history of this place is very interesting. We decided to take the tour with Janey, apart from having great knowledge of the Hall, was a fantastic host, with very funny and amusing stories of the the great Samlesbury Hall, even getting us to Join in the charades, ( which my wife & daughter thought was very amusing ) . Thanks Janey...... There is a shop on site and antiques to buy if you wish, we did try and get a coffee in the cafe, but as they were very busy couldn't really cope with the rush, we ordered 30 mins before the tour, but as we didn't want to miss it we cancelled our order, which was a shame. Overall well worth going and seeing this little bit of Lancashire history.
Charming wedding venue and no frills Eco pods

We attended a wedding ceremony and reception at Samlesbury Hall in summer. The venue itself is delightful with lots of charm for such occasions. Catering was also fantastic. The bar was a little restrictive in terms of size which did cause congestion later on.
We were staying overnight and because we just needed somewhere to crash afterwards we elected to stay in the eco pods in the grounds for novelty value. We got exactly what we expected (which wasn't much). The eco pods were snug (in terms of both size and comfort) and the two single beds were comfortable. There's room to walk between the beds and get changed but little else. Showering and toilet facilities are just behind the pods. Be under no illusion that you have to go outside of the pod to access them if you need to go in the night...! Overall we felt absolutely safe during the night.
Excellent venue and the eco pods served a purpose, even if they were a little expensive for what they were (£40 for the night altogether). Would definitely recommend the venue so 4/5 for that and 3/5 for the Eco pods.
