Marriott properties are reliably good. This location is great for business or fun near SFO. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Food in restaurant is top notch. Enjoy the ambience, and the location, and the Golden State.

Now I remember why I rarely stay in Marriott, and prefer Starwood properties instead. Not quite a disaster, but unless you have at least Gold Elite Status, and don't pay extra for basic things, ROI on this lodging is simply bad. They waived ridiculous $24 parking fee per night, and wi-fi fee. Water was free, and the access to mediocre Lounge for breakfast was included. (well, breakfast was not good for me, not much I could eat there). Bar and common areas were adequate, but not outstanding. Rooms were mediocre at best. Quality of furnishings, bathroom, A/C all looked old and dated, and everything looked past its prime. What really pissed me off is that combination of high rate and lack of quality and amenities. For $300 everyone should at least expect free parking, free wi fi, water in the room, etc.. Not the case here. Will not stay here again. This is really comparable to Four Points by Sheraton, maybe to the old Sheraton, Aloft is generally better, but it is priced like Westin or W. There are Aloft and Westin close to SFO, Pullman in Redwood City (ex Sofitel), Hyatt, you name it. This one should be in $150 per night range, to be somewhat attractive, and they should at least use better quality towels in the room, lol...)))

First, this hotel has hourly free shuttle to/from SFO, which is very convenient. It's also about 10 mins walk to Caltrain station; if you time it right, you can be in SF downtown in less than an hour (probably same to SJ too).
Hotel itself is, surprisingly, very good. It's a good size Marriott -- not meaning room numbers, but spreading out, given it's not a high rise. Stayed here pre-summer, and it was really nice to open the window to enjoy the sunshine and bird-singing.
Visited the Exec-lounge but not finding much if you are not going at the right time; it was not even staffed; kinda disappointed. However, the staffs otherwise were very helpful and progressional.
Definitely recommended if your purpose is a short visit to SF but don't want to stay too far from SFO.

We had a regular room (2139) at a special convention rate. It had a door that connects to an adjacent room, and we could hear our noisy neighbors easily through that door. The hotel should put in side doors that have better sound insulation.
The room was large enough to fit a bath-and-a-half (that is, a separate sink and mirror outside the bathroom to be used when the bathroom is occupied), but just had a regular bathroom. Good enough, though.
Staff was cheerful and hardworking. We were here for a science fiction convention, and the staff wore Star Trek t-shirts and generally got into the spirit of things.
There are four unused electrical outlets on one side of the bed, and none on the other. So, one and one half cheers for that.
The desk has three unused outlets, and on the same panel are four or five different ways to send a picture to the TV. We didn’t use or test them in any way, but I like that they were available.

The facility is nice, but they sure do try to squeeze every dollar out of you. It seemed a little pricey to me, over $220, but we were in town for the Makers Faire. Extra charge for parking, the gate system was broken anyway, so you had to buzz in every time anyway. They never verified that you were a guest, so I didn't understand why they didn't just open the gates. False sense of security.
Wanted an extra $20 a day for wifi. Seemed ridiculous.
There was a breakfast buffet that would've been helpful to know about before we checked out, but I'm sure it would've been overpriced anyway.
Lots of noise from the highway and the elevators as well.
Disappointed in all the extra charges.
