My husband and I celebrated our Anniversary at Sandy Haven in October. It was a gift from a group of friends. They made an excellent choice as it was our first visit and we had a great time!
The staff made it so easy for us to have a wonderful weekend. Even at check-out the staff remembered our names. It might not seem as big a deal but it shows that they have an interest in the guests at the hotel and not just doing their job. Special big ups to Monique, Tamara and Simone from the Front Desk. You ladies were very friendly and professional. We appreciate your positive contribution to our stay. I would also like to thank Romeo from the beach bar, keep up the great work and the positive attitude. Let me not forget to mention Kevin! Kevin you made sure the transition from check-in to our room went smoothly. You you are a trooper definitely!!!!!! 😃
Mr Lynch thanks to you and the Sandy Haven family for a wonderful weekend!!
Something going on at the bar with the older gentleman

Not sure whats happen but the owner may want to check and see if this guy is actually ringing anything up or pocketing the money. We were then when a younger bartender was closing out for the day and the older heavyset man was very rude and disrespectful. Will not go back when he is there.
Great Place to Enjoy the Perfect Beach

Stop looking and book your stay here.
My wife and I traveled on our first vacation in years without the kids. We were looking for a safe, comfortable hotel, but we did not want giant mega-resort. We wanted our vacation to really feel like Jamaica.
Mission accomplished. Sandy Haven was perfect for us.
First, the beach is fantastic. The water is beautiful, and the sand is so soft. The beach in front of the hotel is kept clean. This part is absolutely perfect.
The rooms are comfortable with good air conditioning, strong wi-fi (for international) and all of the amenities that we needed. The property is very safe. There are guards in the front and back, but you don't feel like you need them at all. The staff is so friendly. They are all amazing. Everyone treated us so well, especially Clayton and Linton. We felt so very comfortable. If I absolutely had to recommend areas for improvement I would first say the mattresses in the rooms are very firm. They could use a topper. We also thought that the food was just ok. It was not bad, but it was also nothing special.
We like new experiences, so we rarely return to the same vacation spot. Well, we WILL be back to Sandy Haven. Our trip was 3 weeks ago and we are already looking at how to get back there.
Improvements made, but still room to get better

We returned to Sandy Haven after getting married at the resort in 2015. It was fun to come back and spend time without all the hustle and bustle that goes along with getting married. Lots of good memories came flooding back for both of us. When we were married we had a top floor ocean front room - this time we had an ocean view room. The room size was great, we had privacy, but to see the ocean, we went on the balcony and looked to the right. I captured some good shots of our view. The rest of our view was the CocoLaPalm next door, the front reception area (rooftops) and the walkway to the bar, casual dining and the beach. The grounds are beautiful and a wonderful place to get great photos. I must admit when we arrived, the front deck clerk had no idea we'd bought 40+ guests previously to share in our marriage - but not her fault, there were a lot newer employees.
The good: The room privacy, size, wraparound balcony, ocean breeze, clean beach area, amount of loungers to relax, the breakfast, the bar employees and drinks, the food, the nice large thick bath sheets, the double sinks, nice shower size, comfortable bed, Kedeen, Pops, Cary, the Chef, the dark-skinned bartender with the beautiful teeth/smile, security, JD, and others whose name escapes me. Check in was easy and the welcoming drinks were refreshing. Wi-fi was much better this time, so they've improved their services.
The bad: the pool and jacuzzi was dirty and closed the entire time (it's private so you don't have to be hasseled to buy something), the water went out the first morning we woke up, so the toilet would not flush, the shower was dry along with the sinks for brushing your teeth. They did get it repaired within hours - so this was good. They don't pay their employees enough, so you get the feeling everyone is looking to do well to earn your tips. Some were genuinely respectful, professional and kind - and others were doing it because it was their job. Don't wait until your really hungry to go eat - they cook fresh so it takes time to get your meal. The food is good, but understand, most plans included the continental breakfast. They have other meals, but will wait for you to mention the continental breakfast before they acknowledge it. The front desk staff females were both super serious and not friendly/personable at all. I expect differently when we are paying to spend time at a hotel/resort.
Overall, Sandy Haven HAS improved, but now it's the little things to shore up to get even better. We are going to try some other locations when we return, but we will always hold close the employees we have met and grown fond of.
