What People are saying
North Korean

I just checked into this hotel for the second time. First stay was actually quite good as this hotel is close to the factory I was visiting. This time things have changed.
Behind the front desk there are three posters from your friendly Police Station reminding you about "the rules". I found them intrusive and unnecessary.
If that weren't enough for all you lawbreakers and sinners out there on Trip Advisor, there is another new feature at this hotel: an aging hall monitor with a sign beside him telling all visitors to register positioned at the entrance to the elevators.
North Korea wasn't that bad! I was there in April, I know!
Ok. Perhaps we can blame all this on the draconian Shenyang police implementing the policies of a deeply distrusting Chinese Police State instead...but the demeanor of the lady who checked me in suggested that customer service and your comfort and convenience were none of her business.
Still, the rooms are clean and a decent size. I was also delivered a fruit plate for some reason, which was nice even though I do not eat fruit.
Stay here if you must. Otherwise, choose a hotel with more lively surroundings and less "police presence"
Smokin'!

Stayed here for 5 days on a business trip. It's a bit cheaper than the "normal brands" but the standard is the same as you'd expect. Being China, you can smoke everywhere, including in the restaurants... Well, everywhere except the lifts. The staff are very friendly but only a few speak English so if you someone something, they normally rush off to find someone who can help. There's 2 restaurants; one with western food and one with Chinese food. I only ate Chinese; really really good but, unless there's about 4 of you, don't order rice! The portions are HUGE! I'd highly recommend the shredded lamb - it's phenomenal.
Hope you like smoking !!

First impressions are the most important for any traveller. I've been staying here for three days and I must admit, not impressed at all. Upon arriving at the hotel, you cannot go anywhere without the smell of cigarettes and ashtrays. The Chinese smoke an awfullot, so get used to it.
The restaurant is lacking somewhat. Locally, there are foreign businesses, which are frequented by foreign Engineers from Europe and the USA. Inevitably, this hotel is the choice for the majority of them due to the close proximity of their employ.
If this hotel wants to succeed, then it should concentrate on offering more Western fare ....... don't get me wrong, you won't starve here, but you'd get bored with the menu after two days.
If I could offer one tip to the hotel management, it would be to move the smoking section of the restaurant to where the non-smoking section is........ that way, non-smokers, on entering the restaurant, wouldn't have to wade past tables of smokers.
Everything ok- but nothing special

Hotel is in excellent position- has good public rooms. Lounges bar and lobby etc better than many Chinese hotels. But there is something ordinary about the rooms and appearance upstairs. The room looks slightly dated and so are the corridors. Any room that has been smoked in and corridors that have cigarette burn marks cannot stay at highest standard for long.
GOOD POINTS- great separate shower-- Poor points- breakfast was a bit disappointing for Western tastes
when in Shenyang stay at Sanlong spring!

I stayed here 11 Sept 2013 - 15 Sept this is a beautiful hotel, well apointed, luxurious large rooms,
fantastic showers, makes the average australian hotel look a little shabby.
westerners may at first be surprised by china's smoking policy, however forewarned is fore-armed....
Simply ask for a non smoking room and the friendly attentive staff will bend over backwards to accomodate your needs.
Travellers also remember, you are not in your own country now, so some things may be a little different, take a deep breath accept and enjoy the cultural imersion!
This hotel is westernised enough that you will feel comfortable secure and welcome, yet chinese enough to be a lot of fun as well.
I cannot complement the staff highly enough, during my stay i felt very much the Hounoured Guest.
The hotel is situated close enough to the sity that travel is easy and inexpensive yet far enough away that visitors can enjoy the local flavour of Shenyang away from the noise and bustle of the city centre.
as a first time tourist with absolutely no language skills i was able to comunicate my needs to the staff.
liked this hotel so much, i am going back to Shenyang, and I will definately stay at Sanlong Spring!
