We have always enjoyed the Sapphire and have been with them for 20 years. We have always enjoyed our stay there. We will continue to support the Sapphire through this recent hurricane. The people make the difference and the staff at the Sapphire genuinely care about the guests. Marcia has been a mainstay and her commitment is unparalleled. The Sapphire is a special place.

The resort is in an excellent location and easy to find. The staff make this resort 3 stars. They provide great service and always happy. Especially to note is Marcia who helps with tours, restaurant recommendations or anything else that you need, as well as Rosaline, our housekeeper for the 2 weeks of our stay, who always had a very happy smile.
The resort has the potential to be 4 star but needs major renovation work. Some renovation is in progress and the appliances in the rooms have been replaced. It looks like some painting has also been done in the rooms but the standard of work is poor. My opinion is the renovations need to start at the basics, like making sure the plumbing works before installing new appliances. In our room the dishwasher never drained because the sink did not drain properly. I heard others on the same floor also had the same problem so this indicates a plumbing blockage that should have been fixed before the new appliances were installed. The renovation work seems to be a poor standard but it may not be finished yet so can't be sure. The bath/shower does not have any shower curtain or glass so there is a puddle on the floor every time you have a shower. The cabinet under the sink is hanging in place with 2 screws at the top instead of being installed properly. This is an indication of poor quality work which is evident throughout the resort. The furniture is tired and dated. The couch is like sitting on a brick wall and you can feel every spring in the bed. One TV in bedroom are worked fine but the TV in the lounge are had an awful fuzzy picture. The exterior and lobby area are also in need of major renovations. I hope when all the renovations are completed this will be an excellent resort. The WI-FI internet is awful, poor signal and constantly dropping, barely OK to check email. Luckily most restaurants have very good fast Wi-Fi at no charge while you are dining. The restaurant on site is quite good but we did not use it much because it is cash only and does not allow room charges. Getting cash on this island is an issue because a lot of the ATM's are out of service all the time so we wanted to use credit cards as much as possible.
You will need an ample supply of bug spray as the biting beasts are everywhere. This is the worst place for insect bites I have encountered. Even worse that Africa in the rainy season. Seems strange being an island. But that is one of the joys of travelling. It is a very nice relaxed island. Definitely somewhere we will return to in the future. Hopefully Sapphire Beach Resort will be fully renovated before our return trip.

This is my 2nd time to this resort. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. First it isn't too far from the airport. Upon arrival you are welcomed and check in is smooth as silk. WIFI is free everywhere no log in needed.The grounds are beautiful and not too large or too small. The rooms are PERFECT!!
I love the fact is has a decent kitchen space. Housekeeping does an incredible job here.The activities are enjoyable we took the day trip to Philipsburg, it was hot but fun!!! Plenty of activities to keep you busy or just relax by the pool. The beach is also beautiful, and surprisingly bigger than previous years, actually starting to live up to the beach club name. Pool areas are kept clean and there are plenty of towels available from reception. Will definitely go back.. If I could suggest anything at all to improve the experience it would be bar and food service when at the pools. I would suggest more waiters available to serve this area or more bartenders, because it seemed like the waiters were trying their best.It is absolutely the only issue we had during our stay.

We were almost hotel-less in St. Maarten due to a huge mistake on the part of our home resort. We were recommended to the Sapphire by the original resort that we had booked. Sapphire's resident "Saint", Marcia, took us in, gave us a room and even offered us an additional week at a later date. Words can not express our gratitude. What started off as an extremely stressful vacation, ended well. We look forward to returning.

I've been living here since May 2017 and it is really an excellent, friendly, beautiful resort right on the beach. The pool is always clean, staff always very helpful and accomodating to your needs, and the beach is clean and quiet.
