Pleasant Hotel, Outstanding Restaurant.

We stayed mid-week when the hotel was very quiet, unlike weekends when weddings dominate. The rooms were pleasant, if not luxurious, but good value for the price. The shining star, however, was the Restaurant Tre Olivi. The food was outstanding (Michelin Star level), and the local wines excellent. A special mention to Giovanni, the maitre'd, and Valentino who gave us such great service and attention. Did I mention the breakfast is great as well?
Junior Sweet at the Weekend

We picked Paestum as a place to visit because of the fantastic Greco Roman ruins nearby. We picked a Junior Sweet at the Savoy Beach Hotel because it was an impressive looking hotel and close to the ruins. The room itself we had on the 2nd floor was reasonable and had a large terrace (no sea view) which was a little weird as it overlooked the drive way into the hotel. No dressing gowns or slippers in the room though. We stayed Saturday and Sunday night and as some reviews allude too, this is very much a Wedding hotel with other guests staying here an after thought. The reception staff didn't even acknowledge to us that there was a wedding going on at the night of our arrival, they didn't explain where we could/couldn't go. We felt that we were intruding on the wedding when we had a quick drink in the hotel bar. There was literally no information in the room about anything to do with the hotel. No room service. No nothing. The Weddings take over most of the hotel - all the outside space, the outside terraces, the gardens and the pools As a guest who isn't there for the wedding you feel out of place. We wanted to sit by the pool during the day on Sunday (it's a beautiful pool!) but there were no towels, no pool bar open, cigarettes and an ash tray in the water and people loitering around waiting for the next wedding. There was loud music playing from about 3 different places. We felt so uncomfortable that we didn't want to use the pool. We went and asked the reception where the beach was - he didn't elaborate. Turns out there is a whole "Beach Club" with a swimming pool, restaurant and sun beds etc! This wasn't mentioned to us at all when we arrived and I have no idea why not!! It's a bit of walk to get there (15mins) and you can use the beds on the beach or around the pool. It was almost like the hotel didn't want to tell you about the facilities that hotel actually does have and concentrates purely on weddings. So very strange. The hotel itself is clean, impressive and pretty grand but the service is very much lacking. The breakfast buffet was ok - but nearly every food was covered in Wasps. Pretty off putting and disgusting - just cover the jams/honey with a lid!!! Our room was also next to the kitchen vent - so when that opened at 7.30pm our terrace smelled like cooked fish! The two good things are that it's close to the Paestum ruins and you can cycle there in about 15 mins (bike rental is very expensive though at EUR 15 for a day!!!). The second good thing is the fantastic Three Olive restaurant which I will review separately (well worth a visit!). Overall, the Hotel is all style and little substance. A disappointing stay overall.
Glamourissimo!

The hotel is small, but over-the-top fabulous. Blinged up footballers wives style, with wide, sweeping staircases, ginormous chandeliers and bold modern art. It's a real treat to yourself holiday destination.
Our rooms were large, clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of local delicacies. Having read earlier reviews about it being a "wedding factory" I would agree, but to be honest we got a lot of vicarious pleasure from observing the goings on. That the hotel was busy hosting weddings, meant that the swimming pool was exceptionally quiet and we were able to enjoy an afternoon swim accompanied by live jazz bands!!
My one criticism, would be the lack of informal food. As I mentioned above, the Breakfast was amazing and we also enjoyed the fine dining experience in Tre Olivi. It is disappointing that a hotel of this standard doesn't offer room service or bar snacks though. There is nowhere to get a simple sandwich without leaving the hotel, and at the risk of sounding terribly British there are no tea and coffee making facilities...
Sort these details out and I would easily give Savoy Beach 5 stars.
An excellent hotel

The Hotel Savoy Beach remains very difficult to fault. I have commented in previous reviews on its excellent facilities, including the beach club introduced last year. What I was struck by during my latest visit was the commitment of the management to maintaining the highest standards by continued investment in the hotel structure, and by the professionalism and dedication of the staff. Everything is spotless, and everyone is friendly and determined to help. People work really hard. You see it all the time. The hotel is excellent for a reason. This year we enjoyed some superb, sensibly priced pre-dinner drinks in the very smart but relaxed and convivial bar, and lunched lightly but well at the beach club. As ever, evenings in the hotel restaurant Tre Olivi were a complete treat. Congratulations and warmest thanks to the staff.
Outstanding

We have stayed at this hotel several times now, and find it consistently excellent. Every year they make improvements, and it really shows. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The facilities were outstanding, particularly Tre Olivi restaurant and the new beach club. Three things would improve it: more hangers in the wardrobe! And some cushions for the seats on the balcony. And finally air conditioning in the gym. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Really strongly recommend Savoy Beach to anyone going to Paestum.
