Nice hotel just not for us
kitchenladyon 06/10/2016 13:31Stayed here for 3 days in a standard room which was ok but very very basic. The toiletries were minimal. Having just come from the Hotel Sacher in Salzburg it was a bit of a disappointment. However, I do understand we were in a completely different area of Austria with different types of accommodation although pricing for the two hotels was very similar.
I should have checked beforehand as there was no air con in the room and it was pretty stuffy even with the windows open. Wifi didn't exist in our room but may have done in the communal area. Breakfast was good though the girl that served us seemed quite rude and didn't want to communicate. She often cleared the table whilst we were still eating and more or less throwing the items onto the table. We were not greeted on arrival, Anette came to see us the following day at breakfast to introduce herself she also saw us when we checked out but didn't ask whether we had enjoyed our stay.
I hope I'm not being unfair with this review but I get the impression its all about weddings and not the individuals that stay here. I'm sure weddings are beautiful - but unfortunately it's just not for us and we wouldn't return.
Perfect location for our wedding night
Gary_james_non 08/08/2016 20:51We stayed here for just 1 night on the day of our wedding. It was a perfect location with a lovely room which was delightful. The castle is full of character and history which together with lovely staff made this a perfect stay for us. Highly recommended for a stay summer or winter.

Perfect Wedding, Perfect Service, Perfect Location:Just PERFECT!
Bege81on 21/07/2016 15:36We got married at Schloss Prielau in June 2016 and Anette and her team could not do enough for us. They ensured that every aspect of the weekend went without a hitch, and our guests have since told us it was the best wedding they ever attended! Anette made it so easy for us to just enjoy everything, behind the scenes I'm sure it was exhausting but she never once showed it, and always had a big smile on her face. The catering was INCREDIBLE, food and service, and the castle itself is stunning - ignore the miserable people who call it 'gloomy' or complain about no lift - it's an old castle, what do you expect?! Location so close to Lake Zell is a dream, and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. We could not have asked for a better place to get married, this will always have a special place in our hearts and we cannot thank the Meyers and their team enough. x
Gloomy castle near Zell am See
GlenIrelandon 11/07/2016 20:53Stayed for two nights. Room was spacious but very dark, gloomy and mind your head on the doors if you are tall (I gave myself a nasty bruise). No one around after 6pm in the evening, you can't any food, not even get a cold drink or a beer. The owners seem to put put all their attention to the Mayers restaurant next door (but even this was closed one night and fully booked the next). I was disappointed. Wouldn't return.
