One night in Schlosswirt

Hotel is closely to the motorway exit (2 minutes) and has a good value/Price relation.
The room is nice and the bed Quality is very good.
Breakfast is nice too and I could recommend the ham&Eggs with Bacon!
But there is no bar or Restaurant opened after 11 p.m.

It is 400-years old hotel with untypical atmosphere. Rooms are arranged in nice Biedermeier style, quite comfortable and big. The restaurant serves traditional, regional meals with a choice of Austrian wines. It is nice to stay here, especially that Salzburg is very close.
A nice short vacation in Salzburg

I spent few days with my wife at Schlosswirt zu Anif. It was a nice short break. The hotel is really charming with amazing surroundings; especially the castle and mountain. It was very cold but mostly dry and refreshing. The room was very comfortable and restaurant was excellent (both breakfast and dinner). Salzburg city center is only 20 min by bus or taxi; the bus stop is very close to the hotel.
Very sad to see this beautiful building not given the love and care its used to

I decided to stay at the Schlosswirt as a treat for my birthday. Our family had holidayed there every year from 1965 to 1997 and it has always been one of the most special places in my heart. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. Although the furniture and artwork are all the same, it seems to have lost its glow. Everything seems to have the the minimum of care. The decor of the rooms is very tatty and in need of a fresh coat of paint. I found the Receptionist at check-in condescending. The two waitresses were friendly and helpful at breakfast the first morning, although they had been quite abrupt on the first day. The overall feeling from the staff was one of coldness, especially from the management. My friend (who was born and raised in the Schlosswirt) stopped for a drink and asked for some bread to have with her drink. We had not joined her at the time of her ordering the bread. However, when I paid the bill after she had left, we were charged for 5 people at Euro 2.95 for her piece of bread. When I questioned the receptionist about this she told me it was for a midday snack and as she wasn't there, couldn't give me an answer about it. When I said that I had not even been there when my friend ordered her bread, she just said I should ask my friend for the money. When I returned to the hotel on the second night at 10 pm, everything was closed up. I asked the person on reception if it was possible to have a cup of tea. I was told nothing was available. Not the sort of service you would expect from a hotel of its PAST calibre, more like a Bed and Breakfast. The wifi is terribly weak. The breakfast was very good, especially the scrambled eggs and the honey on the comb. I am just so sad that the hotel isn't the warm, welcoming place that it was in the past.
Charming and cozy

We chose to stay here rather than Salzburg center because we had a rental car. Parking area was ample, but did get puddly when it rained (and it poured on our first evening there). The building is centuries old and some of the decor seemed a bit dated, but in some ways just added to the charm of the place. Because the grounds were so wet, we couldn't really walk around and appreciate them. The staff was very helpful, even encouraging us to take the car to the city center with advice on where to park. In addition to breakfast (offering bacon and eggs as well as the usual meats, cheeses, yogurt, and bread), we ate dinner there one night. My husband found the menu items a bit too "gourmet" for his tastes, but found something (prime rib and potatoes) to his liking. Overall we had a delightful time, despite the cloudy/rainy weather, although I'm not sure if travelers without a car would find this place convenient.
