Don't stay at this hotel.
Their employees stills your things and they don't want to pay you for your loss.
Stay away from this hotel.
The housekeeping still all my expensive things, cost over $500 and the hotel offer 2 free nights stay at their hotel. What the hell!

Location, location, & location!

If your destination is downtown Houston, this probably ISN'T the place you should stay. But if (as in my case) your reason for visiting resides in or near zipcode 77084 (west Houston), the Scottish Inn is an excellent choice. As far as I could tell, there are only 2 motels in this area, and the other is an extended-stay venue that rents by the week, not by the night -- not suitable for my purposes.

As the realtors say, "Location, location, & location!" The Scottish Inn is a very budget-friendly motel located right on busy Hwy. 6. If you are driving, you can get anywhere pretty easily. If (as in my case) you are car-free, the basic necessities of life (e.g., multiple restaurants, a grocery store) are within a few blocks. It took me only about 15 minutes to walk to the Aldi.

The good stuff: My room was huge, and the ceiling was painted sky-blue with little puffy clouds! (Aww....) Everything was very clean. The room had a microwave and a mini-fridge, as well as a coffee pot, so I bought a few food items so that I didn't have to eat every single meal in a restaurant. The motel has a small outdoor pool -- not big enough to do serious laps in, but big enough to get wet, and a smattering of lounge chairs for sunbathing. The guests were a quiet bunch -- I didn't hear a peep from anyone except if they happened to be talking right outside my door. Motel has its own little laundry room, which was a nice convenience, though there is also a laundromat just across the street.

A few minor beefs: The free continental breakfast is "carb-y" and uninspired -- mainly breads, cereal, and sugary yogurts. I would have liked to see a little protein -- how about some hardboiled eggs? The first room I was assigned to -- although ostensibly a nonsmoking room -- had multiple cigarette burns (!!) in the bedspread. The desk clerk was very obliging about moving me to a different room, but why are you even keeping that bedspread?? Beware the "free wifi"! No sooner did I log on, than my computer security software began fending off attacks left & right. Fortunately, no viruses or malware seem to have gotten through, and as a Comcast customer, I was able to use the xfinity wifi instead.

Overall, my complaints are minor, and I would stay here again when visiting my son. It was a very good deal for a well-located motel in a major city.

Good Hotel

I have been around nine days in this hotel during my vacation in Houston. My experience was mostly positive. It's not an expensive hotel but in no way it feels 'cheap'. The rooms are very big and clean. Overall I would recommend it too everyone who is looking for a decent budgetfriendly hotel.

You get more than what you pay for

We have stayed here twice before and will book again in October. Friends live 20 minutes drive away but hotels near them are not as good as this hotel. Its worth the drive. Have not been to breakfast, only to pick up some bagels, we always go out to eat.

Okay for the price

Booked a room here with my son for funeral. Usually stay in larger chain hotels, but it was last minute and hotel is fairly new, budget friendly, and the location was close to rest of the family.

Good - Decent location. Along TX-6 so there were lots of choices for places to eat and shop.
Bad - Breakfast
Ugly - The first room we checked into was not great. There was blood on the wall (not a whole lot, but blood nonetheless), cigarette burns on the blanket, and damaged furniture. I'm guessing there may have recently been a brawl or something in the room because there were patches on the wall and the safety sign on the door was missing. Who knows. But I did complain and they did move me into a better room (with a small sofa and table and chairs) so I give them Kudos for that.

Overall it was okay. Nothing fancy. Great for a short stay, especially if you are trying to save a little dough.
