first time sleeping in a houseboat... staff was friendly and helpful... stayed 2 nights just for the experience... it was cold.. lucky to have heated blanket and hot water to take bath... food was ok.. toiletries wasn't given so bring your own...

It was hot in late June at Srinagar, not much different from Delhi. Shikara ride preferable only in late evening, otherwise it is too hot. Shabnam Houseboat for which I spent 11k+ for two deluxe rooms was awful. Food was too bad and we had to drive through shikara on the other side of lake to city, to get nice food. Avoid Shabnam or for that matter there is nothing special about a housboat stay. Better be on city side hotel to enjoy the city market and shikara ride.

We stayed in this Houseboat for two nights. This is an old property with beautifully carved wood work. You can spend hours on the deck watching people selling all kinds of stuff on their boats & tourists enjoying there shikara ride.
It looks awesome until you reach to the bathroom. The bathrooms are stinking. (may be in every house boat as it was my first experience to stay in house boat). Food was average and prepared in house boat.
The care taker Nazeer was an irritating person. You always search for him as he just serves you the tea and not give you the sugar. The electric blanket was not working and he refused to admit this for one night and change only on next night after complaining with tour operator. He also ask for food how much you will eat and he will supply only this.
No Wifi.
Light very dim.
No proper lock in bathroom and there is a slit through which it is open to outside.

Rooms were spacious and neatly maintained. Service was good and they served good food too! The balcony is a good place to spend some time if the temperatures are not freezing. Overall it was a nice stay at the houseboat.

Was there on the last day of my trip the houseboat is an average one the rooms are ok type some what like a budget hotel the towels were not clean. Food was average the houseboat is facing Dal lake road on Ghat no 8. They are strict on their food timings one has to be ready by that time or else chance of missing the food is quite high.
Overall an average experience.
