Opulence on the beach

From the moment you stand in front of the thick heavy doors at the entrance to Shambhala you know your in for a treat. Open the doors and you are greeted with serenity, the pebbled entrance culminates in a very large amethyst crystal formation. Then you detect the soft music playing and the sent of incense in the air. Take a breath and move into a what feels like a tropical oasis. There is a raised boardwalk through ythe middle of the property with the RETREATS on either side of you as you walk up the boardwalk. We stayed in the 1 bedroom (2 people only) retreat caled Samadhi, this retreat has it's own facilities, you are able to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner even a rast dinner if you wish as tgere is a full size oven.

There is an outdoor area that feels like home, a lazy louge, outdoor dinning table, personal BBQ and to top it off your personal hot tub with ocean views. The bedroom is located upstairs and has a large balcony off the bedroom. The balcony has a stone bathtub with running hot and cold water for a lazy soak after a hard day of relaxing in and around the room and beach.

Words don't fully describe the experience, opulence is as close as I can get. Shambhala was an experience that I believe is second to none.

Mid week - weekend stay

Hotel comes across as a really nice place to stay in, though it didn't feel that clean and the appliances were a bit out dated and warn for the price. Our TV from what I could see was the smallest in the 'retreat' and didn't add to the uniformity of the resort. We as well didn't have the advertised Netflix on the down stairs Tv which isn't a necessary, but would have been nice as it was raining for two days.
Another down fall of the hotel was that there was no room keeping service, limited towels and soap per room. I ended up having to use a towel a few times over, eventually asking a staff member I saw on site for soaps and a towel. The staff were unaware of the location and took a while to bring it to me. Another let down of the private spa facility was the limited hours 8am - 9pm, which I do understand, but for a private spa I felt we should have been able to use it Any time we decided (being a retreat). I fee like Byron bay has better hotels to stay in, if you are after an upper class hotel with attentive staff. Overall the hotels location and surroundings are really beautiful, the beach front access makes it extremely convenient to access and a nice place to sit at night. A nice touch was the bottle of sparking wine left for us at the beginning of our stay, I would recommend the hotel on its grounds, location and it's secluded feel.

More Than We'd Hoped For

After purchasing a 'Luxury Escape' package recently my partner and I had the pleasure of staying in the Shiva Cottage for 5 nights in March. Reviews we had read about Shiva had us worried about the size of the cottage, privacy, noise on the roof from trees etc so we were absolutely delighted with what Juanita showed us on our arrival.

The whole resort is beautiful, secluded and tranquil and Shiva was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. I believe that what was once a yoga studio is now the large living/ dining/ TV room and it was a wise decision as the transformation has made what would have been a pokey apartment into a luxurious space.

Privacy was not a problem, we simply pulled down the blinds, and Shiva is immediately adjacent to the sauna and steam room which was an unexpected bonus.

Juanita, who met us on arrival, was very helpful as was the maintenance man when we needed assistance. The beach is on the doorstep and the centre of Byron Bay is a very pleasant 15 minute walk along the sand!

This was my second stay here so I know the layout and am aware of the associated privacy issues that have been referred to previously. However, as far as the Samadhi Retreat goes, which we just stayed in, there can be no complaints. It boasts the most privacy within the complex. Waterfront position. Perfect for honeymooners. The rest of the people staying there will be envious. Big shout out to the manager Kristine. Perfect host. When little things go wrong, as they inevitably do, she is always on hand to rectify them.

Great location

We were staying for 5 days at the Shambhala@Byron. We had a great stay and the house was comfortable and had everything we needed (a little kitchen with everything you need during your stay, etc., a bbq-place, a washing machine and dryer, each "house" has a private area, etc.). We arrived very late, but got a perfect description of how to get to our house. The place is beautiful and has an entrance right to the ocean. The stuff is always willing to help and very friendly.
We had one little issue (a harmless snake in our room, which they took care of, so I'm not complaining about the handling of this situation). It's Australia and nature and you probably don't realize a little whole in the roof right away, so this can happen.
The only thing I was missing, was a little gift (nothing major, a bottle of wine or champagne would've been enough) for the inconvenience, which I believe isn't too much to expect. But other then this we had a very good time and enjoyed this place.
