1. During summer time hotel is too busy to attend tourist group. So when you checking in please do expect delay due to the fact that front desk have only 2 checking in staffs.
2. Overall quality is felling far behind to the truly luxury hotel standard.
3. Buffet breakfast quality on foods and services had become poor.
4. Service staffs manpower is falling far behind therefore hardly to find a staff who will has smile on their face.

This Shangri-La Hotel is nice enough, across from a lovely park and right by a Wanda department store. Very nice room, ccmfortable bed, great huge shower enclosure alongside the bath. Good enough breakfast served in cafeteria style restaurant but STAY AWAY from the other restaurant where the fish are visible in their tanks and the shellfish are on display also. Some of the fish looked sick, some were clearly sick and at least one was dead. I have photos but can't upload them right now.
The service in the restaurant was very poor with the food taking 20-30 minutes to arrive, the clientele left a lot to be desired with one man appearing without a shirt of any kind which didn't seem to bother the staff.
Not sure what the relationship is between the restaurant and the hotel but although expected international standards for this Shangri-La the restaurants certainly live up to this.

Will never go wrong with Shangri-La chain of hotels. The room is clean and comfortable. The hotel offers very good dinner buffet selection, choice of western, Chinese and Japanese with a good variety of seafood. It is also located next to a mall and a shopping street.

We still have one more night before heading to Harbin. We were picked up at the airport by the pre-arranged ride from the hotel and the check in at the hotel was expeditious. Our business executive suite is spacious with a separate bedroom and a living room; the king size bed is very comfortable. The staff are courteous and professional; the young concierge always acknowledging us upon our return. We arranged a City of Ordos/Genghis Khan Mausoleum, which the driver/guide Mr. Yu really made our trip enjoyable. Our room is always spotless upon our return and my compliment to the maid for such great job and non intrusive service. A great contrast to other major city in modern China, Baotou is a beautiful city situated on the Mongolian plateau and it was unusually warm for the past four days and the air quality is great; no smog or gray sky. The roads are wide and beautifully maintained; plenty of parks and modern malls in the proximity of the hotel. The Horizon Club offers decent breakfast and the staff is very professional; gym is little lacking, but not too bad. April is consider a slow month for the traveling in Baotou; the grassland usually comes alive in June. Overall, we really enjoy our stay and really appreciate the attentive service of this wonderful hotel in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

As you would expect from Shangri-La, this is an excellent hotel, providing a really high standard of service. The range of food (Chinese and Western) was excellent, and service consistently attentive and helpful. I stayed on the executive level, and would again. The range of food and drink provided in Happy Hour was very good, and having some space to work and talk was really an asset, especially as it was snowing heavily outside.
My only issue of concern was the old one found in China, of other guests smoking in the hotel - which was a surprise to find near my room, given we were staying on a non-smoking floor. Smoke gets into the aircon and tends to circulate to other rooms - which is not so good.
Apart from this the experience was excellent.
