Stayed here for a couple of nights for country fair. Nice environment, very clean room. For me and my partner we stayed in a small room. When booking through the booking site it didn't realy state how small. The room would have been fine for single room ocupancy but certainly the bed felt small for a couple. This led to poor nights sleep. This is no real fault of owners, just something to bear in mind as there are bigger rooms.
To make this an excellent place to stay maybe a little more attention to detail is needed. Although the breakfast was good, for the price I would really expect a cooked breakfast on offer.

My partner and I stayed for a couple of nights to celebrate my birthday, visit Chatsworth and walk around the upper Derwent reservoirs.
We were welcomed by Chris on our arrival, he showed us our room, told us about breakfast times (8.00 - 10.00am) and the times the local pub served dinner. The room was lovely and very clean. There was plenty of storage space in a substantial wardrobe, tea and coffee making facilities (with biscuits!) and the beds were extremely comfortable. After having slept very well, the breakfast was very good. There was a variety of items from homemade spelt bread and fruit salad to different cheeses and yogurts. There were so many different teas, it was difficult to choose but there was also coffee for anyone in need of caffeine.
The village of Sheldon is very quiet and a lovely place to get away from it all and staying at the Sheldon Retreat makes it perfect.

Sheldon Retreat B&B is a really nice venue. Chris and Jay are very pleasant and helpful hosts. Their breakfast is ample and varied. My room was private and have all that is necessary. Sheldon is a remote place which is good for walks, quiet and a relaxing break.

We have just come back from a lovely weekend at the Sheldon retreat, we used the B&B as a base to explore the Peaks and found it to be very clean, the hosts very welcoming and friendly and the room peaceful and tasteful. The breakfast is fab and locally sourced, all in all a wonderful place to stay for a countryside break, we'll be back and recommending it to friends and family!

While visiting Peak District Park we chose Sheldon's Retreat for our 2 night stay. So glad we did. Chris and Jay were wonderful hosts and our room was clean, very well furnished and very comfortable. Best sleep of our trip. The location was away from the busyness of Bakewell but close and convenient to the walks we wanted to take and to Chatsworth for sightseeing. The "town" of Sheldon was totally charming and the "proper" (in the words of a Brit guest) British Pub across the street was wonderful. Ate there both nights. Also important was the quality of the breakfast at the Guesthouse. It says cold and continental, but it was much more than that. Fruit, boiled eggs, pastries, cereals, pancakes, cheeses, etc, etc. All available in a large open room that feels like an art gallery. We thought this was the best place on our adventure.
