We booked here so my children could enjoy the Waterslides. However the hotel books birthday parties and the place had so many UNSUPERVISED children running and pushing my children out of the way that it was unpleasant. In addition to the huge, uncontrolled line for the waterslides, the hot tub was full of little kids despite the sign saying no children under... I think it was 16. Room was okay but very disappointed with the pool.

Have stayed at the Cavalier over 200 nights in the past two years since I was working in Calgary but commuting from Montreal. The staff there are fantastic. From the reception staff to the hosts in the business lounge, they all worked hard to make me feel at home. Their great service and smiles were always appreciated. Also great value for the price charged. All good...

My wife and I, along with my sister-in-law, stayed here as we were attending. Niece’s wedding.
Checkin was a very pleasant experience. The counter staff was very friendly and professional. We were advised that the pool area was closed as at the completion of renovations, the contractor found an unexpected problem. In the interest of guest safety, the hotel opted to keep the area closed. We overheard that some folks had cancelled their bookings and had gone elsewhere. Really folks? It was for your safety!! It was accepted as what it was as we know that “xit” happens. I give Kudos to hotel management for making the decision to provide guest safety over worrying about loosing a few bookings! Besides, I wasn’t there to swim (although I do like to use the hot-tub).
After checking into our room my wife stated to unpack when there was a knock on the door. When she answered she was greeted by a staff member who had a gift for us (champagne, chocolates, chocolate covered strawberries, and some ‘dainties’). Yes, they acknowledged our anniversary. A very thoughtful and well accepted gesture.
We stayed on the “club” floor and took advantage of using the club lounge both for breakfast and for snacks. My “go-to” was The expresso machine (love that Starbucks coffee!!) and their soft, chewy chocolate chip cookies Mmm mmm. Breakfast had a nice selection and the service was fantastic.
We three ate at the ‘bistro’ restaurant and each of us had the Beef Dip sandwich with wine by the glass. It was very tasty and plentiful (ya just gotta love that Alberta beef!)
Checkout went very smoothly and was quick.
I would without hesitation, definitely recommend this hotel .. Should/when we return to Calgary, this IS where we will stay.
Overall, I wish to thank the hotel staff & management for making it a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.
To summarize, THIS IS SHERATON!!

Sheraton Cavalier makes for a typical, positive experience within the Starwood chain -- except for the Club Lounge.
I am a Starwood, Lifetime Platinum Member, with 750+ stays in the past 10 years. Everything about staying at this hotel is very consistent with the quality and experience one expects when staying at a Sheraton property - except for the Club Lounge.
Lobby, check-in, and room quality are all great. They renovated the hotel a number of years ago and its proximity to YYC is very convenient. Commute to the downtown core is relatively quick, albeit of course longer during the morning rush-hour commute.
Breakfast and dinner options within the hotel are very good and local restaurants are a short walk or at worst a five minute Uber or taxi drive away. The latter provide for a good selection of dinner options.
What is very puzzling is the Club Lounge experience. As someone who stays at Sheratons dozens of times a year, and most recently in 2017 at the Sheraton in New York, Toronto, Chicago O'Hare, Dallas and Orlando - the Cavalier is an outlier.
Toward the end of your breakfast, the attendant takes a passive aggressive approach and slides a 4' x 8' postcard stock form in front of you. While doing so, she takes a very presumptive tone which after you have a peek it is apparent she's expecting a tip to be entered on the form.
What I don't understand is that this behaviour is completely out of character with the other North American Sheraton's noted above, let alone others in the Sheraton chain. Factor in that some guests have paid a premium to have Club Lounge access, this behaviour is even more egregious for those premium paying patrons.
Aside from the "presumptive close", the good news is that the quality of the Sheraton Cavalier Club Lounge is in keeping with the usual Sheraton experience. Good selection of cereals, fruit, muffins, and hot items such as scrambled eggs.
Just be aware that you're going to get a little "visit" from the attendant before you leave. Trust me, you'll know it as soon as it happens.

Every year instead of having a friend birthday party, my son asks for us to come to this hotel and meet up with family and hit the waterpark. We top it all off in the am with the pancake breakfast buffet! It's always a blast and hope to continue the tradition!
