What People are saying

Don't stay here if you need wifi

redlegtarantula on 19/11/2017 00:03

I was there for a conference, and had tremendous trouble with wifi--I spent a lot of time on various help lines trying to get the problem straightened out. Then I talked to other people at the hotel, and it wasn't a problem with my computer or my wifi--everyone was having problems. Yet, in the five or six times I talked to the front desk, no one mentioned it was a problem on their end.

So, not only did I have wifi only intermittently, but I wasted a lot of time trying to solve a problem I couldn't solve.

There were other glitches suggesting management problems--long lines at reception, breakfast wasn't really ready to be served till 6:20, terrible lines at elevators (which could have been solved by warning people to get to panels earlier). If there is ever another conference at this hotel, I will stay anywhere else.

Confusing Design, Great Service

DrColby on 18/11/2017 23:31

I stayed at this hotel for a conference. It cannot be easy for any hotel to absorb ten thousand people. I appreciated the way every meeting room had a water cooler. The design of the hotel is confusing, especially when trying to navigate between the conference center, central tower, and north tower, which are not intuitively connected to each other. One friend joked that they should change the hotel's name to "You Can't Get There from Here." There ended up being long lines for the Central II elevators, and some people were fifteen to twenty minutes late for their scheduled presentations because it was difficult to get up or down, and taking the stairs was not feasible if you're trying to go from the 2nd to the 37th floor.

On the other hand, I found the service to be consistently warm and excellent. They brought in extra staff to handle the conference crowd, which I appreciate. On Saturday, my friend and I got hopelessly lost trying to transfer from one bank of elevators to another on the 29th floor. A very kind housekeeper named Kimberly Johnson dropped what she was doing, escorted us to the other side of the building, put us on the right elevator, and stayed with us until we were safely on our way with directions for how to reach our destination. Thank you, Kimberly, for so graciously going above and beyond for us. That kind of service is the norm for the staff at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.

A Pleasant Surprise

BBVeniceFL on 15/11/2017 00:36

I'm not a big fan of Sheraton properties, because the experience is so unpredictable. This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The lobby is a bit dated, but the staff is attentive and accommodating. This hotel is large, with multiple high rise towers and multiple elevator banks. The rooms are small, but recently updated. They are clean and comfortable, however they are not quiet. You can hear everything that goes on in the hallways, for the entire floor of the hotel.

Not accessible but good for everyone else

I stayed here two nights for a conference. The staff were almost all incredibly helpful. I want to thank Brenda in the overnight housekeeping for being so professional and friendly so late at night. The waiter Eric was wonderful. The front desk staff got me checked in and out quickly, valet went above and beyond.
But . . . I asked for a Handicapped room. I was put into one with two double beds. This is rare as most handicapped rooms just have one king-sized bed. I planned on having a roommate so this was great. That room had a tub but it had a built-in bench. The grab rails were a foot too high. There was a towel rack (again, a rarity) but it was right in front of the toilet so you bumped into it every time. I was okay with everything until I got back from the conference and got ready for bed. I could not get into the beds, they were so high. I called the front desk and they immediately responded by bringing a step stool. The automatic offering of the step stool leads me to believe that this is a very common complaint. I am not able to step up onto a stool though, so they offered to change me into a "real" handicapped room. This new room was arranged quickly and Brenda helped me pack and move. The new room still had the beds that were too high. After much consultation, I asked if they could just remove the bed frame to lower one of the beds by about six inches. The maintenance men came and did this and I was able to get into bed sometime after 1:00. If you stay here, be sure to ask to have the bed frame removed as soon as you check in.
The second bathroom had a roll-in shower and the grab rails were at the correct height. But it still had the towel holder where I bumped into it every time I used the toilet.
I was in the Central tower and my rooms were each very close to the elevator, which I appreciated. They had peepholes at both standing and sitting height and the inside door locks at both heights.
The sports bar is not chair-friendly and very loud but it does have staff knowledgeable about local beers. The restaurant is also not chair friendly - the tables are too close together - but the food is good, about what you expect from a high-end hotel.
Try to get a room that is high up so traffic noise fades away. The lower rooms are quite loud from cars and trains.
