Nice hotel and had an unpleasant experience

My family and I stayed at the Sheraton Laval for one night and it wasn’t at all pleasant. I am not blaming on the hotel but I should have changed room the moment I realized a group of students occupied the same floor. This group of students appeared to be senior high and I thought they should know the etiquette of staying in a hotel. Boy I was wrong!!! I got back to the hotel around 10pm that night and it was not too noisy. I could still hear them talking but the noise level was still acceptable. However, they had so much energy or they might have more than a few drinks, they just could not keep it down or shut up! At around 3am I was woken up by some girl bagging on a door asking to let her in because she forgot her key card. At 7am, they started leaving. Doors were opening and closing loudly. I looked outside and there were at least 20 of them talking near the elevators. It was really terrible!! It was a nightmare putting us on the same floor as these students. I am not blaming the hotel but I should have changed room.
My room had two queen beds. Washroom has a bathtub. I would prefer glass shower which will take less space. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable despite I didn’t get much sleep.
The hotel has a nice sized swimming pool and a hot tub. The exercise room is well equipped. I had a massage at the SPA. To gain access to the SPA, you can actually get in from the pool area, so you do not need to put your winter coat on and walk across from the lobby.
Although my experience at the hotel was not too pleasant, I would however recommend to others. In The location is great. You are two steps away from the shopping centre. The freeway is right beside the hotel. There are many restaurants nearby. This hotel is 15 minutes from the airport and 30 minutes from downtown, could be less if there is no traffic or constructions.
In the area, I think Sheraton Laval is the better hotel amongst the other two competitors. The other two are a little run down and beat up. Parking however is not well designed because it shares with the shopping centre next door so it can get very busy. If you are arriving with many bad and luggage, I strongly suggest you stop your car at the main entrance and unload them first before you park your car. Or the hotel should provide valet parking to their guests. The lobby is quite nice, bright and clean. The check-in process was quite smooth but I wish they had given me a room on different floor. They should have a floor or two designated to SPG members.
Business Trip!

Conference weekend

The hotel is a well run and clean facility. After initial guidance from staff, I was able to navigate easily during the weekend. I was working my conference as a presenter and two members of the Sheraton stand out to me for their service.
Christopher is an outstanding member of the Front Desk team. Multiple times over the weekend, he made sure that I was prepped for my workshops and enjoying my Sheraton experience.
Laurent is a lovely young man that is polite and intelligent in conversation. He remained professional in his duties while asking about my area of expertise. I was excited to share my insights with him.
All staff I encountered were courtesy and lovely. But Christopher and Laurent made my visit as a guest and as a professional.
Dated room, sticky floor, awful parking
Sabrina M on 10/11/2017 19:17
Even before checking in, I was already at a disadvantage. The design of the front exterior is not conducive to encouraging guests to offload then park - which is actually necessary given the parking situation. I had to park at the top of their outdoor parking garage and haul my suitcase down a dank cold staircase (in November). I mentioned this to the front desk associate and he said "Oh that's why we encourage guests to offload at the front, check-in, then park" - yes, thanks for the tip but there was no designated offloading area, nor was there any room for me to temporarily park my car at the front.
I've had to travel to Laval many times for work and I would certainly recommend the Hilton or even Holiday Inn across the street over this Sheraton.
I get to my room and it's so dated. I wouldn't have minded but there were also sticky spots on the tile in the room entrance way - residue of some kind.
The toiletries provided were the kind you might get at a Best Western - tiny and sparse. There was a conditioner but no shampoo. I understand that I didn't book a suite, but I also didn't think I was staying at a motel.
If you're giving me a room that has not been renovated and updated then at least give me some decent toiletries. How cheap can you guys be?
The TV system was incredibly frustrating. At first I thought it was the batteries in the remote but then realized it was just slow and unresponsive to changing channels or volume. Yes - even worse than what you normally have with hotel entertainment systems.
Overall a poor experience. The distance to the mall provides no benefit that would outweigh this kind of service. I'll keep going to another hotel across the street.
Do better next time guys.
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

i needed to ship some things back to my home from the hotel. They were incredibly helpful. Vanessa and one other person went the extra mile. So grateful and appreciative. Also, the Laurent, the concierge was very helpful with everything else!
