Newly renovated room, sad tired breakfast, no coffee maker
lilyfelixon 27/10/2017 20:37The good: This hotel is still under renovation but all of the available rooms are brand new and very clean and comfortable. Heavy roller blinds do a good job of blocking the light from the truck stop next door. There were plenty of bedside charging outlets (AC and USB.) The shower was fantastic, with new high-quality Delta fixtures and nice toiletries. Staff is very professional and friendly.
The bad: No coffee makers in the rooms. (There is coffee at the desk downstairs, but some of us require coffee BEFORE getting dressed enough to walk through an active construction site.) When I asked why, I was told that it "cluttered up the modern design" and that coffee makers might get stolen. Which sounded like a nonsense excuse. (There is still an iron and alarm clock to clutter the surfaces and tempt small appliance thieves.)
The breakfast room was clean and sunny, but the breakfast itself did not match the quality of the rooms. There was cereal, toast, bagels and waffles with various packaged condiments of unknown quality. There were also biscuits and a lackluster sausage gravy. Protein options were premade egg patties and sausage, as well as Yoplait yogurt (mostly sugar). The only fruit was a basket of three apples that looked like a decoration.
Nice New Hotel for Autum through Spring
SeattleOmaon 30/09/2017 03:12This is a hotel just being renovated - taken down to the support beams. All rooms are brand new and very clean. We were probably one of the first few in this room.. The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was pretty standard, but there were options besides the grain varieties you usually find, and bonus: they used paper, not styrofoam! The down side? The air conditioner was really loud! In a new hotel, this was unexpected. Just don't stay in the summer. And ask for a room NOT facing the parking lot as the lights from the all night diner were right in our eyes. Yes, we could pull the blinds, but we also like ambient light in the morning rather than total darkness when waking. The diner was ok if you are tired, but if not, drive to a good restaurant. The night manager and lady in the breakfast room were outstanding in their friendliness and helpfulness. They made us feel like they really enjoyed their jobs.
Under Renovation
Ralph Gon 24/09/2017 01:53We saw that the Red Lion was being remodeled, but had high marks so decided to try it.
Not sure if we were the first to stay in our newly remodeled room, but it certainly looked and smelled like it was all brand new. We got there around 6 PM so can't comment on any noise issue with renovation.
Really liked the layout of the room with great lighting over the sink as well as by the beds and the table. Besides the air conditioner/heater everything in the room was brand new and great quality.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. In the morning the breakfast was great and again the staff asked if we needed anything.
The hotel is by a truck stop/restaurant and close to the highway so it can be noisy. We had ear plugs so that wasn't an issue.
Willing to work with the customer.
Delmas Fon 16/09/2017 20:16On 08/17/17 my family and I attempted to check into the Red Lion Inn. Unfortunately they never received our reservation from the 3rd party booking site. The desk clerk, Tony, worked with us for over an hour to make sure we got a room. It should be noted that this was the eclipse weekend and finding a room was hard. Tony was not able to give us the same price as the booking site, but it was only a few dollars more. Then the night before we checked out our reservation came through, so they refunded what they charged us and gave us the lower rate.
The Inn is going through some renovations, but the staff makes up for any renovation work that you might see.
