Needs to be updated
K707ENlauramon 07/11/2017 11:24The Shilo shows its age; it's in need of updating. That said, my room was clean and the staff (housekeeping and front desk) were great. Since the restaurant is being updated it wasn't open but the kitchen did serve a free breakfast - bagels, cereal, eggs, ham, and biscuits and gravy. The food was good. I should also add that the Shilo provides a free shuttle service to and from the airport, saving you money if you don't need a car.
Much improved breakfast
LeslieGheron 22/10/2017 18:48For the last year breakfast has not been great. But with new resturant management I tried it today and was very pleasantly suppried the was tender ham, fried potatoes that were not rubbery and greasy but crunch on outside and soft in middle. Scrambled eggs and biscuits and gravy. The view from my room was pleasant to wake up to also.
Disappointed
therealsherlockon 04/09/2017 20:39Because trip advisor has been taking political sides I gave up on trip advisor for a long time....but.... my Shilo Inn stay deserves a review...again. At check in I asked for one key (old fashioned metal key with room # on it) - they gave me two. The room upon check-in seemed fine..as expected since I have stayed here several times before. As usual there are many maintenance things outside and inside that are not being dealt with ...but, the bed was comfortable, the AC worked good and the shower was good. When I turned on the old non flat screenTV is was all lines across the screen. After 4-5 minutes though it became watchable. This happens ever time you turn on the TV. The toilet after a flush takes almost 10 minutes to fill up before you can flush again. I spent three nights in this room and housekeeping did not once come in my room. On day three I went to the front desk and asked why...?? The answer was "no, housekeeping does not necessarily go in daily - if you are staying a week they will come in mid-week...?????? REALLY? I have never stayed in a hotel that did not tidy up each and every day. After my first nights stay I met my buddy at the lobby for 6am breakfast. The guy at the lobby said he was sorry but the breakfast person did not show up...???? REALLY? We had to get breakfast elsewhere. The second day I showed up for breakfast around 8 am. I was totally disappointed. There was only a couple of muffins, a pastry or two and a kids size packaged drink to choose from - what a joke. Also, the restaurant here is closed so there is not a working restaurant onsite. Also, even though they give you a ticket for breakfast for $5.00 plus off of a hot breakfast this also is not available....REALLY??? I used to like Shilo Inns but I am pretty sure I am done with them now. Either the boss is being too cheap and just letting it all die or the management there is horrible. I noticed this same trend at the Shilo Inn at Ocean Shores. Next time in Richland I will most likely stay elsewhere even though the Shilo Inn is close to the river and near the park. Check out attached pictures to see what I mean. Good bye Shilo....
Sad repair, nice location
annajoanna64on 28/08/2017 17:19A group of us stayed specifically for the pool for our children and the pool was being "cleaned" and we were not informed of this when we reserved. I would compare the cost of this hotel to a "Best Western Plus-The $2.00 breakfast "cold breakfast" was disgusting with bugs in the bagels, expired yogurt, frozen banana's, and stale muffins. The only thing good about this place is location and pet friendly. The entrance carpet was filthy, although front staff were pleasant and apologetic, just doesn't cut it.
On the way back from eclipse...
PAUL Bon 22/08/2017 17:15I stumbled upon this Jem returning from viewing the solar eclipse in Oregon. Traffic got snarled so we stopped for a movie in a nearby town. Dusty and in need of any affordable bed I was so please to get a last minute booking at this establishment.
Often the pictures of pools, etc oversells the property but everything is as pictured. Pool, whirlpool and delicious coffee! The beds and pillows are meant for dreaming.
Most impressive was the attitude and helpfulness of John, who greeted us. It was so refreshing to deal with a person that has such pride. He explained that the hotel is in the process of being built back up. They are certainly going in the right direction!
I would stay here before the prices catch up to the quality.
