What People are saying

great hotel

scharaleon 13/11/2017 19:45

Stayed at the hotel for three nights and relaxed at the private beach (the resort includes much more e.g. golf course etc. but after two weeks of traveling around we didn't use all the facilities Jebel Sifah offers). The beach is in 5-10 minutes walking distance; if you don't feel like walking the Hotel offers free shuttle service (golf cart) at any time.
The beach is very clean and you can order drinks and food at the beach bar.
The Hotel also has a nice pool. Rooms are very clean.
Dinner at the restaurant: you can either choose from the à la carte menu (we had the seafood risotto and it was delicious) or the buffet (, both times very good; 11 OMR, large salad buffet, variety of main courses and an amazing desert selection).
Rooms are very clean and the staff is very attentive and nice. One of the hotels we can definitely recommend and hope to return to.

Hidden Gem - Recommended

Reaching the property is bit of a challenge but with an updated GPS not much of problem. The drive itself is worth it. Well appointed and spacious room and bed was comfortable. Lovely pool. Good breakfast. Very relaxing, cosy and calm place to stay, stayed here for 2 nights and had a very relaxing time. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity then this is the place. Professional, courteous and helpful staff. There's not much to do in As Sifah, but recommended if you want to relax and not do much.

Not as advertised - sadly

A-JJonassenon 14/10/2017 18:42

This hotel is struggling, but in trying to fight for survival, they are making basic inexcusable mistakes.
This hotel is not a 4 star ‘boutique’, but a normal nice small hotel, with plain but nice rooms, good balconies and missing a lot of the advertised amenities - there is no Nespresso machine (one will be provided upon request, but not cups that works with it), there are no bathrobes, no fully stocked minibar and we were missing a bedside table as only one was in the room despite space for it. The fact that the decor was different from the color scheme in all pictures is a minor point, but it shows the slipping standard since the original design was outlined.
The beach is also in decay, with parasols falling apart, and a very rocky water entrance and bottom, so be sure to come with shoes to enjoy the water.
Service and food is excellent and the staff are trying their best - so a good basic 3 star hotel on a normal day.
The real let down for us was our last vacation day where the entire pool area was transformed early afternoon into a disco with loud music, community entrance to the pool, people smoking and drinking of glass in the pool, and finally the person defacating in the pool.
We were unable to use the pool area, our balcony or even our room due the extremely loud music that went on well beyond the announced time - this without having been announced to us, neither when we booked months ago, nor when we checked in, and staff seemed more interested in serving the guests joining the party and spending money in the bar, than to concern themselves with us longer staying guests, when we complained.
While we were disappointed that the manager did not address this directly with us, we were informed that dinner was complimentary when we showed up to eat and we enjoyed a late checkout - it did not however make up for a lost afternoon and evening of our last full day of vacation.

Chill out Excapade

Awesome place to break away from the city, noise and hectic work. Best place near Muscat to chill out, have fun, enjoy sea activities, swim and breathe. Perfect rooms, good service and delicious food. Highly recommended for family, group events and tourists.

Marmite - some will like it, some won't

Depending on your expectations of the hotel will determine if you like it or not. As it's sold as a boutique hotel my expectations were not met.

After spending an hour driving to the hotel from Muscat, in dreadful twisty roads I was hopeful of finding an amazing hotel.

When we arrived at the driveway to the hotel, there was no clear indication where to go. It was obvious this was still very much a construction site from the various works on the drive way and debris.

Reception was extremely quiet with no atmospheric buzz.

We arrived early and were delighted to be given our room. The room was spacious and clean and I cannot fault it other than the damp smell. However, this smell obviously was because we were on the ground floor, and as people went in and out from the pool they left doors open that caused dampness from the humidity.

We then decided to go for a walk around the resort. I can only describe it as soulless. The beach while on first sight looked beautiful it was a poor example of man made beach and very rocky.

The restaurant and food was pretty good.

The real problem was the strange atmosphere and pool area.

The pool on both days we were there was taken over by the families of the residents from the resorts apartments. I had thought the pool should only have been for hotel residents. This ruined the experience.

After dinner we went looking for a bar to have a drink in. We were advised there was 2 (bar ten and the Sky lounge). Maybe if you literally like a bar to yourself you would enjoy this.

The resort complex idea is great idea. But I would much prefer to go to one of the others in Muscat.

I can say that I wont be returning to this hotel. It's rare I say wouldn't go back. But this is one. The long twisty journey, unfinished resort and pool area take over by non residents of the hotel brought me to this decision.
