Nice to Stay

What made my stay a amazing experience is the courtesy of front desk staff. A very special mention of front desk person to take care about our special requests.. thank you very much. I will surely return back and it's a great pleasure.
Door opened suddenly early morning, aggressive and rude manager yelled at me when asked for explanation
WMKSpore on 15/11/2017 04:15
Room carpet was dirty - lot of beads or some stuff that looked like those handicraft decorations.
Room is old and furniture too. Bathroom was still ok though.
Computer in lobby didn't work. Wifi was poor, my phone kept losing signal or couldn't connect for hours. Even the cable tv gave up on my last night but by then I couldn't be bothered anymore.
Door is flimsy, lock opened even if locked when keycard inserted.
Staff treat different people differently. I saw a staff member give goodie bags to some people when they checked in but I got nothing and some other guests didn't either. Not sure why.
Something is dodgy about house keeping. They keep knocking even when the do not disturb sign is on. I was sick so I had to extend my stay as air canada advised they wouldn't let me board in my condition and I just wanted to rest. I even told reception I did not want cleaning and they put a note in the system. I also told housekeeping but they still knocked few times. Luckily I was there. I'm told by staff and managers of other hotels that this is not normal. I wonder why and wonder what they'd have done if I hadn't been there? Their intentions are suspicious. have doubts about honesty of staff in general.
Manager is rude, aggressive and antagonistic.
On 28th of October, around 7.25 am, the door of my room suddenly opened. I was woken up by the sound of metal as the latch had been latched and when the door was opened, it made a loud sound.
I went to check and saw that the lock on the door had been unlocked and the latch was pushed out like when someone had opened the door with it on.
I called reception to ask what was going on. A female staff answered the phone. She first told me it was housekeeping checking if I'd checked out - I had extended the stay and was originally due to check out that day. She said they sometimes check early to get an early start on the cleaning.
I questioned why they didn't knock and ensure that there wasn't one which is highly likely given that it was 7.25 am on a saturday. She then started changing her story. She said she has been there all morning and there was 'literally no one' there. She also said housekeeping only comes at 10am.
When I pressed for an explanation, she started repeating, 'what compensation do you want' over and over. I kept asking for an explanation but she just kept saying that like some deranged robot. I finally told her to find out what happened and get back to me.
She didn't. I was really sick those few days and I was resting after being rudely awaken. Anyway, I called down to reception again around 2.30 pm after not hearing anything.
This time another woman with an indian accent answered. She was really rude from the start. She started talking really fast when I explained the reason for my call saying that the maintenance guy had knocked as there was a leak upstairs and he was 'scared' I'd be 'upset' to see the bathroom floor wet. She kept going on and insisting that no one had entered - something I'd never said happened. I tried to explain that I know that no one had entered, I hadn't said that, rather that someone opened the door and I hadn't heard knocking. She wasn't happy that I'd interjected and very rudely told me to stop talking and stop interrupting her. I asked to speak to the manager and she replied that she was the manager.
She insisted that maintenance merely knocked and when I insisted the door had been opened and I hadn't been awoken by knocks but by the door hitting the latch, she started aggressively shouting at me that I was 'making things up' and 'imaging things'.
I asked, look, if n one opened the door, then why is it unlocked and the latch pushed out? She answered me rudely, 'how would I know? Maybe there is someone in the room.'
Her tone and behaviour was not only rude, it was antagonistic and aggressive. I knew there was no point talking to her so I said ok and hung up.
I made a complaint with choice hotels but guess what? No one got back to me. I will never stay at a sleep inn and probably the only choice hotel I would stay at is the quality inn castleton. The manager and staff there are courteous and professional and try to make guests feel at home.
Very bad experience

First, I want to say that I am a housekeeper and I can usually see past the small things, like the hair in the tub and on the bed, the dust on the counters, the stagnant smell. I understand what it's like to clean places like this and something's just aren't a big deal to me. But my fiancé and I had too many bad experiences here.
First we get to the counter and the man behind the counter looks like he has a million things on his mind. He greets us and then says "sorry, we are booked solid" before we even had the chance to say we already had reservations. So he says okay and he'll be with us when he was situated. We said okay, no problem. So he looks up our name and asks if a room on the first floor is fine and we said yes. He goes over the the hotel rules (no smoking, no pets, breakfast in the morning, blah blah) hands is our key and says we are in room 2** and the elevator is down the hallway, enjoy our stay. So we walk to the elevator and I mentioned to my fiancé it was weird he asked if a room on the first floor was fine if we are actually on the second. And the key card holder said room 2**. So we get to the room and the door is propped open by the deadbolt. We both just looked at each other, but thought maybe the maid left the door open by accident. So I open the door and there are people in the room, their backs turned towards us (and I swear I saw a dog in the room even though pets aren't allowed, but I could've been mistaken by that) so we quickly let the door fall shut and run to the elevator because we didn't want the people in "our room" to see us. So we go downstairs and tell the man there are people in our room. He takes our key holder and says there shouldn't be people in room 2** and then looks on his computer and realized he never changed the number on our key card holder. He gave us our room number and activated our card and sent us on our way. So besides the items I mentioned before, the other thing my fiancé noticed when we first got there was the toilet seat was so loose he almost fell on the floor. The worst came the next morning though. The walls are a little thin, so I was up early and went to get breakfast. I took a yogurt back to the room and went to put it in the fridge, but there was a dirty cup filled with coffee and a used napkin in the fridge with coffee stains on the bottom. It was obviously never looked through or cleaned. Next I jumped into the shower and was rinsing my hair when I noticed an old dried wash cloth hanging over the shower curtain rod. I quickly finished my shower and opened the curtain and noticed old urine on the bottom of the toilet, the part that screws into the floor. It was absolutely disgusting knowing that had my fiancé fallen the night before from that loose toilet he potentially could have touched the urine and dust collected at the bottom of the toilet. And it wasn't a new pool of urine, this looked as if it had been there for a couple weeks. After that I quickly dressed, we packed our bags and we went to checkout. My fiancé didn't even get a chance to brush his teeth, we left as soon as possible. We got to the front desk and the woman checking us out was very quiet. She never asked us how our stay was, if we had any problems or anything like that. So we spoke up and said we had some issues. We started telling her what went wrong and about 12 housekeepers came from the hallway and listened to everything we said. It was very awkward for my fiancé to say what happened as 12 people were crowded around the side of the desk. So he finished and the girl went to get the manager. My fiancé was about to restate everything that happened but the manager told us she had heard what we said and that we need to write everything down and she would take care of it. She did discount our room but I don't believe we even got an apology or anything. Had only one or two of these things happened I wouldn't waste my breath reviewing this, but there were too many negatives for me not to warn others
Dirty, run down, noisy - horrible stay
lorioconnor on 03/11/2017 02:53
Stayed one week, three rooms in total. This hotel is a dump...bitten by bugs, broken furniture and collapsed ceiling in room 2, glue traps for rodents under the bed, the rugs are dirty, non smoking rooms reek of smoke, marijuana smoke fills the halls causing smoke detectors to go off at night. The faucet in one bathroom was barely holding on, and the shower walls had mold and mildew present. The third floor has half smoking rooms so moving to a top floor to avoid the ceiling noise is pointless for a non smoker. The side entrance doors are permanently unlocked, so anyone can enter the facility, very unsafe. The microwave was missing from two rooms. Spend a little more for clean rooms and a safe environment.
Not As Good As I Expected
Cowboydc16 on 01/11/2017 22:23
I have stayed at this hotel before so I was expecting a better experience. The pluses:
The bed was firm and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and the location is good. The cons: The carpet was dirty and the bathroom tile grout was discolored. The fire alarms were being tested during the night of my stay. I could also hear a lot of noise from other rooms and from above. Particularly annoying was the smell of cigarette smoke coming from the smoking rooms on the third floor. It rained heavily during my stay which caused most of the TV channels to go out. The breakfast was pretty lousy and the coffee was very weak.
